Genuinely asking, because I can’t see anything official. So many people are struggling as it is, the stress of this must be overwhelming

My kids school are currently delivering pack-ups at lunch time but have said they're trying to get the voucher scheme going again

One area I know has set up weekly supermarket delivery to people

I’ve got one school where I have to go to the school at 12:30 every single day to collect a ham or cheese sandwich (I have 3 kids trying to home school and a toddler and it’s approx 2 hour round trip to walk to that school) and one offering a box to be collected at the start of each week, which won’t be in place for another 2 weeks.

I’m not complaining about the schools AT ALL, they’ve been thrown in at the deep end, I’m just more aghast at the government (I know, I know - why still be surprised?!?!)

Obviously at the moment I am making do, but with this, expecting to magic 3 laptops out of thin air and heat the house all day every day and pay for internet etc etc etc it’s all pretty overwhelming.

So many people are struggling. It’s a little frightening

Nothing from secondary schools either and they were supposed to be on a delayed start

PodgeBod · 08/01/2021 08:54

I've had 2 weeks worth of vouchers (one for over Christmas and then another for the first 2 weeks of term)

movingonup20 · 08/01/2021 09:23

Varies where you live, I'm delivering lunch boxes Monday morning to 15 families - the food bank and school arranged this (I'm a volunteer) it's going to have cereal, milk, juice, pasta, pasta sauce, tuna, block of cheese, loaf of bread, tub of spread, jam, a cucumber and cherry tomatoes apparently. All free school meals families are getting one unless they are at school and extra is put in if there's toddlers at home

SendHelp30 · 08/01/2021 09:24

How do you usually get the food in school holidays etc pre-Covid? Is there a food bank that’s closer to you than school? Do you have any family who can help?

Mumofsend · 08/01/2021 09:31

Ours are doing daily pack ups to be collected each day at 11.30 this time

Itmaybeus · 08/01/2021 09:35

We've had nothing from college since September even though dc have not been able to physically attend.
Secondary have been brilliant if it's been a bubble burst they've sent tesco vouchers to cover the period they've enforced. Yesterday we got a voucher from school for this week and will get one a week thereafter.

Interesting to hear how it varies! This isn’t a personal complaint as such, more utter confusion that the government haven’t addressed it really!

@SendHelp30 I’ve received food bank help in the past and I’m not of the opinion holidays should be covered etc, just find it odd that families are deemed to require the FSM when at school but in the is situation or sort of left in the lurch!
