Just that really does anyone know anything I could really do without many teachers coming on saying “we don’t know any more than you do” yes I know but I’m just really stressed and could do with people who can tell me what we know so far

  1. It will be teacher assessment
  2. It will not be an algorithm
  3. Grades will be roughly equivalent to last year (which was 12% up on 2019, which is obviously huge)
  4. Students should be taught the full course and be in education until the end of the year as planned.

That's all we know, I think. Any help?

Ok thanks a lot. Do you know if schools will still be doing mocks and if work done online can be used? Why are schools still teaching?

Our school have said that they don't know what's happening but that they anticipate using mocks as evidence, as well as work that is submitted online.

AlexaShutUp · 07/01/2021 22:40

They basically said that, in the absence of any clear guidance, they will be collecting as much evidence as possible so that they are able to back up their judgements as required.

DD's school did mocks in November/December but are planning more in March.

If we can do mocks/exams in school/college, we will do. The problem is we don't know if we will be able to invite students in to do those exams and we don't know when....it's very difficult for parents and students I completely get, but the uncertainty is created by the uncertainty of the general pandemic situation.

Schools are still teaching exam years because we haven't finished the course. If you have only studied 2/3 of an A Level you can't have the qualification. You need to do the whole syllabus. Because it needs to be comparable with previous years, and also because many students will need the knowledge for further study.
Would you be happy with a future doctor who had only done 2/3 of a Biology A Level?!

AG1981 · 07/01/2021 22:51

What your school said sounds reasonable to me and similar to what our institution are doing (planning to do)

According to letter from school about dd’s a levels, will be based on mock exams, assessments, class work, homework, prior performance and professional judgment. One set of mocks done, more are planned but when is up in the air.
