Anyone got experience of this? Dd 12 had a red lump appear on one toe this morning. A 2nd one has appeared today on a different toe. Painless. She hasn't left house all week so would be surprised if chillblains. Has anyone had this with a positive test or after a test? No other symptoms. I think I Can get her a test through the Zoe ap but my vague understanding is if its a symptom, it tends to be later in the infection?

You can also get chilblains from hot water bottles and radiators. Has she been touching anything hot?

perfectpanda · 07/01/2021 21:15

No , no extreme heat. Chillblains normally hurt don't they?

Is it itchy? Chilblains can be.

DS had something similar last week. His toes were pinky purple and looked swollen. We contacted GP who telephoned us and for photos he then requested blood tests.
We have a call with GP again tomorrow. DS wanders round the house in shorts and without socks even in winter and our house is 1930’s semi so not overly warm.
He denies putting his feet on the radiator but when searching on line his feet look very similar to both chilblains and covid toe.

No just raised red bumps. No itch or pain. Weird! It's listed on the Zoe ap as a symptom to report which is why I was aware of it.

That's funny, DS has been complaining about itchy toes lately.

DS17 had chilblains on several toes a few weeks back, and he’s never had them before. We had a local Covid test centre didn’t need classic signs, had swab next day, and negative result 24 hours later. Turned out that standing out in the wet and cold every school break in his suit and office type shoes had given him chilblains, sorted by sheepskin insoles!

Wolfiefan · 07/01/2021 21:53

It can also be cold and inactivity though.

perfectpanda · 07/01/2021 22:03

Ok thanks. High chance it's the cold as she sits in her room all day, very inactive and it's chilly! I might test anyway as it's on my mind now and her brother is in childcare so don't want to take any risks. Tests are readily available here for people without symptoms. Funny enough ds (2) had spotty toes in March after 'a virus'.....
