Dh boss living in a COVID positive house and still going to work

It has transpired that DH’s bosses roommate and girlfriend have both had positive tests, his boss received notification to isolate on Sunday morning. He went into work instead Mon - Weds and the whole team have been around him. It came out as roommate works there sometimes too, and let it slip to one of DH’s colleagues. So boss is now going to isolate until Monday but am I justified in being furious that he’s risked his whole team and their customers (he was still doing site visits). Or is there something I’ve missed?

He’s been dodgy the whole way through. DH came off furlough before all the others and went back to work. Boss kept the others on furlough but had them back at work and chucked them £20
in cash at the end of each day to top up to their full time wage. I suspect he knew there was no way DH would agree to this but he didn’t keep it a secret!

It’s like he’s got them over a barrel - if they do anything to stand up to him, report etc they risk losing their jobs.

But I feel like there must be something they can do? They’re all so cross. I’m clinically vulnerable, one has a pregnant partner. He’s not just risked his team, he’s risked their families too.

And the kicker is, he’s usually the first to find an excuse to not work (in normal times he regularly disappears on holiday for a month.) What was he thinking?

Blooming heck what an absolute idiot. In terms of the furlough you could report him to the HMRC, not sure about the isolation thing though.

I know MN don’t like a snitch but I’d be looking up who to report him to.

It’s one thing private individuals breaching restrictions but I really get the hump with businesses that make this whole thing harder. Fuck him up for risking everyone’s health, grass him up

Cornettoninja · 07/01/2021 10:11

I really didn’t mean to add the ‘up’ - fuck him was sufficient!

CaptainVanesHair · 07/01/2021 10:24

I started doing the reporting thing but I felt so guilty because two of the staff are new dads. It’s so complicated. I think I will though. And if it’s me that does it, it’s not like any of the team have grassed them up. Worried there’ll be implications for those that accepted it, but he didn’t give them a lot of choice.

We realised he did them out of holiday too.

It’s such a mess, any other time I’d just be telling DH to get out of there and we’ll figure it out.

The isolation thing it feels like there’s no comeback at all. All I can think is that they all say they’re unhappy he’s risked their health and to ask to see the updates COVID policies in place and go from there?

He has broken the law by not self-isolating. And with regards to the furlough thing.

Report him. To the police and to the H&S executive. Not ok to bring a notifiable disease into work.
