Depends on my marriage minipie which as you can see - given the not allowed - isn’t ideal.

Superketchup · 08/01/2021 17:04

And a while? You realise we are talking months if not years don’t you? Not a few weeks.

minipie · 08/01/2021 17:06

If that’s what “not allowed” means then you have my sympathy and I can see the need for support.
@MotorwayDiva
Children can cope without social contact if the alternative is coping without food or access to healthcare. People refusing to break social chains of transmission are showing a total lack of respect towards society and are effectively causing millions to become unemployed and thousands to die.
I’m not sure I follow your logic. If kids play in the playground together, are you saying they then won’t have food or access to healthcare? Seems a bit of a leap given the very small likelihood of transmission outside.

@Superketchup. I'm so sorry for the situation you're in, which the rules just make even harder Flowers.

DH works long hours out of the house and I'm often alone with DS from 7am till midnight. He's now often working weekends or is asleep till midday at the weekend since he's so tired. So the only time I really get to see other adults is when exercising with friends (which I'm lucky to be allowed to do since DS is 3). It must be difficult to be so alone but not be able to form a support bubble or exercise with a friend even.

Whirlwind14 · 08/01/2021 17:19

@Superketchup Flowers hope you’re ok. It’s tough enough as it is without relationship issues.

@StatisticalSense so given your opinion that children can go for months without social interaction, you’re obviously doing the same and not meeting anyone 1:1?

Isn’t it because under 5s seem to not spread covid as much as older kids?

No, it's because if they are counted in the numbers many adults would never be able to meet another person.

He looks 4 to me! But STRICTLY
no hugging granny!!

Mousehole10 · 08/01/2021 18:18

Isn't it because an under 5 has to be with their parent, they can't even walk a little way away from them so it would be impossible to meet with another adult for exercise. Also a baby or toddler in a pushchair can't run to another person and accidentally get within 2m.

Surely the sensible suggestion for parents with older kids is to go on a walk with another adult with a similar aged kid and walk in pairs, kids together and adults together. You're only allowed to meet one other for exercise, not play, so would have to be walks really and not a play park, unless the adults are walking laps round the park for their exercise!
