Has anyone else who is a keyworker been refused a school place?

My daughters primary is only letting kids with 2 keyworker parents into school. According to .gov website this isnt the rule? Has anyone else had this happen?

DC's school are not providing any key worker places unless parents are NHS, which seems a bit much, but I'm not getting involved because whilst I am a KW, we can manage. There doesn't seem to be much consistency from school to school though from what I see anecdotally.

And in other schools 3/4 of the class are in

Both me and DH are key workers and have been refused a place because I can WFH. I work FT and school have now sent us a learning itinerary for the week which won’t even be looked at

Same here both we are both KW but as I do not work out of the house full time we have no place. This is the school making their own prioritisation, I will challenge it as I need to go into my office sporadically to access files that I cannot bring home. I hate having to battle with the school on top of all of the other stress.

Both parents have to be a KW in our LA.

Schools will have identified how many children they can safely have in and set their limits based on that. There is no point in this lockdown if half or 3/4 of children are in school, so if they have high numbers of key workers they will set limits.

Finally someone who has had the same problem as me! I have two kids (one is 7 and 1 is 11) and I have been told by their school that they cannot have them in. This makes my life awfully difficult as I am an accountant and cannot go to work. You may ask 'Helen, why can't your husband take care of them whilst you are at work?'. Well the answer to that is my husband divorced me in December of 2018, and I have had to raise these kids on my own.

It will depend on them having the staff and space to be safe

Our school has said vulnerable children and those whose parents play a critical role in the pandemic

Dd's school is prioritising healthcare workers and social workers and I think childcare workers too. Dh is technically a keyworker, but I'm a SAHM and he WFH, so we don't need to apply. Last time, people were refused because only one parent was a keyworker.

It wasn't the government's rule last time either I don't think, but the school was limited in how many children they could realistically take.

My hubby is a police officer and I work for the NHS full time. I have been declined a place unless I need to go onsite at the hospital, because they are limited to 10 per bubble and thats already full. Currently able to do most of my job from home. I have already told school that the itinerary I am meant to keep with 4 children will not be getting done. I will do my best to get the work done in the evenings and weekends.
