What do the government class as local? We live 6miles away from a national Trust (would have to drive there) would this be allowed or not?

The police are far from perfect and don't always get it right, obviously. That article linked upthread is misleading and only tells part of the story. We live in a National Park and saw at first hand the problems with visiting covidiots. We have family in the Peak District who also suffered - that quarry pit is dyed black from time to time to stop people swimming in it because the water is toxic and there are underwater hazards, never mind that people were travelling there because it looks nice on the surface and then littering so it no longer even looked nice. Some people will live right by Calke or have a medical exemption and able to go there for their essential exercise but others will just be out for a nice jolly because they fancied it. Fine in normal times, but not now. I think the police are generally right to be clamping down now, before things get out of hand like last time, and when people have travelled away from their village, town or part of city unnecessarily.

Unnecessary = want to.
Necessary = have to.

The chance of an accident or breakdown also needs to be considered, as mentioned upthread, as services don't want to be called out for non essentials.my breakdown service sends people out from local garages. I had to call them out to my home when my car wouldn't start. I think, if it means they get paid, they are happy to be able to work. We both wore masks and didn't sit in the car together at any point.

Fair point Captain. I was thinking more of ambulance, fire and police.

We're rural and live 7 miles from our nearest small town, including the nearest supermarket, drs surgery and all facilities. It would be beyond common sense to stop.us driving that distance when needed, but in large city, that same 7 miles would feel like a very long way.
It's all relative..
@time4anothername public toilets are high infection risk areas? Do you have any evidence for that? They are mostly well ventilated due to open door and everyone washes hands after visiting.
Many are not well ventilated, you need air exchange. Everyone does not wash their hands and even if they do surfaces are touched before and after washing. There are viral particles in human waste although if there is transmission by that route does not seem to be agreed. There is guidance for keeping toilets safe but how well is that followed?
