These symptoms?

I've been hesitant to post this as I know there are a load of similar posts but I've read through them all and still don't know. My husband is convinced these aren't early COVID symptoms but I'm not so sure and I wondered if anyone else's version of the virus started like this?
I feel extremely nauseous and just 'not right' I went upstairs just now to get my 8mo from her nap and had to call my DH up to help as I couldn't stand by the changing table and needed to sit down. Feel 'tired' but not sleepy, just that I can't really be standing for long and have a constant sick feeling in the pit of my stomach. DH says I look very pale. My Dad is just recovering from it and I was dropping stuff inside his front door for him so I guess could have caught it that way. Anyone else had similar? Would you book a test? A bit worried about my baby if I do have it.

Those symptoms don't make you eligible for a test. You could have anything. A friend of mine just had a stomach bug. Very unlikely you caught covid from outside a house of someone self isolating.

Thanks for the reply but I'm not asking if I'm eligible for a test, I'm asking if anyone who's had confirmed covid had symptoms which started like this. Also not asking if I could have caught it in a particular way, I've been In the supermarket and boots many times over the last week getting essentials for my dad so could have picked it up there. As we all know, the new variant is more contagious so I'm pretty sure few people on here are qualified to say how likely or unlikely it is that I've picked it up.

I’ve just had Covid and my symptoms didn’t bear much similarity to the published list of three. It seems there is so much variety in this illness in terms of how it affects people. Hopefully you haven’t got it but taking a test is the only way to know.

fedupandfiredup · 06/01/2021 12:25

Your symptoms are very similar to the first symptoms I had. I'm on day 13 and nausea remains the worst part. See how you are today but if you start feeling hot and flushed, I'd consider a test. Hope you feel better soon

weepingwillow22 · 06/01/2021 12:38

I would get a test. Very few of the people I know who have tested positive have had the 3 NHS symptoms.

DownWhichOfLate · 06/01/2021 12:41

Yep. Dizziness and fatigue are known less common symptoms. Maybe get a postal test?

radiateforme · 06/01/2021 12:55

So you'd lie to get a test? You aren't eligible for one. Unless you pretend to have the required symptoms symptoms.

dontmesswiththeGC · 06/01/2021 13:05

@radiateforme I don't know if you're asking me
Or the other posters who said get a test but yes I would lie to get a test. Its much safer to know for sure so I can take action to stop myself infecting other people. As you have just read, there are people who had it and their symptoms did not contain the listed 3. I'm sure you are aware this is the same for many people and we have all seen the many posts calling for this testing requirement to be updated. If the government won't be responsible enough to do it, then I'll make sure I'm responsible. Do you really think all 60k people testing positive every day have those symptoms? My dad was in close contact with a colleague who tested positive and got an immediate test with no symptoms. Lo and behold he tested positive before he had anything like a cough or fever. He couldn't afford to just stay home for 10days in case, he's a dentist and would have let down hundreds of patients as well as lost a lot of his income. He stayed home as soon as she told him and stayed put until he got his results. Are you saying he did the wrong thing?

Don't be ridiculous Angry
Of course they should get a test.

Exactly this! I had to ‘lie’ to get my test (although no-one directly asked me the question as I ordered my test online).

If I hadn’t taken the test, I wouldn’t have known I’d got Covid and would have merrily continued going to the supermarket and walking my dog. Surely this is partly why we’re in the mess we’re in? Because people don’t know they’ve got it because they haven’t got any of the ‘magic three’ symptoms.

There are much longer lists of symptoms which include most of the other things that people have reported. Personally I think it would make more sense for the government to use those longer lists as the guidance.

Everyone knows there are less widely published symptoms which end up being covid.

A friend of mine, a teacher, had headache, body aches and fatigue. He had a test due to his occupation and it turned out to be positive.

In your situation I would get a test.

maddy68 · 06/01/2021 20:01

My friend was nauseous and weak but didn't have the classic symptoms. She tested positive
