I work in a non clinical non patient back office role in the NHS. My team is not in any way critical to the covid response.
We have been mostly working from home since March as our jobs can be fully carried out remotely on trust laptops.
Since September with schools back we've done a day in the office each. The reason given is to check for post. But basically to have someone present. The manager and their PA have done 2 days each. They work full time, the rest of us part time.
Since the new lockdown announcement, the manager has said part timers are required to do an extra day in the office. There is no new reason for this.
So I have been told to get a school place - I did not need one last time as I could work at home (different manager, same job). I feel awful requesting a place when I am not front line, increasing risk for teachers and my own family.
Our trust has so many sick and dying covid patients, more than the first wave. And yet there are managers acting like this, at the very least against the spirit of the law.
I am so worried going to the office now. Its an open plan room with no ventilation. I know this in no way compares to what real front liners have to cope with, just shocked the NHS can have this attitude.
Just wondered if anyone has experienced similar or has any advice.
