Realistically, what provision would you like to see for your child at home

If you are having to keep your child at home,
What would you realistically like to see the school provide in terms of provision? What would impress you or make your life easier?

What do you expect to be getting?

As a teacher I'd like to know how to make this easier for the parents of the children in my class.

@gleegeek - and also the opposite! It might take them a lot longer than other DC if they have dodgy/not enough tech, they need support but parent is busy, passwords for different platforms have been forgotten, the distraction of new Christmas toys is too strong! My DD's pastoral care teacher came round today and just said do what you can despite the headteacher sending messages saying all DC should be starting work at 9am and complete all the work for that day when quite clearly that won't be possible for many families.

For thing i would like right now is a patents meeting where the teacher goes through the expectations, where to upload stuff, how to use the various websites etc, where to get help if you dont understand something

Otherwise

  • workpacks instead of printing worksheets. Or if that's not possible, worksheets sent out day before so they can be printed ready.
  • prerecorded lessons. From other providers is fine, but with an explanatory note for parents so they know what their child should have at the end of it (mine are only 7&9, obviously older pupils need more oversight)
  • fun Zoom call or similar, for a bit of socialisation with class. But at different times, so it can be worked into the family schedule.
  • weekly check in 1-1
  • ! Email with a list of log ins for things like TT rockstars
  • being able to collect reading books once a week, especially for younger pupils, or libraey books for older ones.
  • time flexibility... I quite liked taking mom oit for exercise from 2-3.30, then doing the final bits as it got dark.

What I don't want

  • Live core lessons. I dont want to have to chose who child can attend a lesson.
  • too much work. We had three subjects today. More than 4 would have been a struggle
