Sorry for tmi but anyone here who tested positive and had diarrhoea?

I know that symptoms vary in different individuals and sometimes in no set order but I just wondered if there are any adults here who tested + had the runs and went on to recover ok at home?

I've got the runs and cold chills and have been scaring myself reading about a particular presentation of C-19 that starts with diarrhoea and goes on to be very severe. Sorry for tmi but I can't get tested ATM until I can leave the bathroom Grin and I am obviously not going to disturb a doctor with what could potentially just be a stomach bug. I am obviously going to be sensible and seek medical advice should I feel it becomes necessary though.

My step mum had diarrhoea and chills. She had to fight for a test and it came back positive.

However, whilst she was unwell it was not especially severe and she recovered at home.

Get a test. Fingers crossed for you.

Sorry you're poorly OP. My best friend and her husband both had it with what she described as 'apocalyptic shits', and while they both felt terrible at the time they both recovered fine at home without any complications.

Really hope you feel better soon!

billybagpuss · 05/01/2021 19:46

Same with a friends DM, absolutely horrendous diarrhoea, vulnerable group in her 90's recovered fairly quickly.

Missh07 · 05/01/2021 19:46

I had the symptoms you describe, and I'm happy to report that was the worst of it (loss of sense and smell was double annoying though) you'll ne fine, chill!

HairyFloppins · 05/01/2021 19:46

Yes me and DH both had horrendous diarrhoea that lasted a couple of weeks. That was probably my worst symptom and I seem to have recovered well.

SissySpacekAteMyHamster · 05/01/2021 19:47

I did. High temp, chills, diarrhoea, muscle pains, headaches, cough. Was shit but my breathing was never affected.

Musicandmovement · 05/01/2021 20:01

Oh thank you so much everyone. And for posting so promptly. I'll obviously be sensible but all of your replies are really reassuring! Sorry that you or family members had to go through it though! Thank you again Flowers

My daughter had dioreha and vomiting for 3 weeks and despite testing negative the doctors were adamant she'd had Covid

Aquamarine1029 · 05/01/2021 20:03

I did. Horrific liquid fire that lasted for days, along with horrible headache, body aches, and complete exhaustion.

BlueBaubles12 · 05/01/2021 20:05

My Aunt tested positive and diarrhoea was her main symptom.

Porcupineintherough · 05/01/2021 20:20

The early reports coming out of China linked diarrhoea with severe forms of COVID- I remember reading them when I started last March (diarrhoea was my first symptom) and they terrified the life out of me. Of course these reports were based on hospital patients, ie the most severe cases. Since then lots more has been written about "mild" covid (inverted commas because it doesnt necessarily feel that mild whilst its happening) and we now know that lots of people get diarrhoea as one of their symptoms but do not go on to get seriously ill.

One thing to watch though is that you dont get dehydrated - very easy to do when you are "in full flow". Drink, drink and drink some more. I found dilute squash with a little added salt really helpful. Drank pints and pints during that first few days. Basically you need to drink enough so you can keep weeing. If you cant do that, you need medical help (and that goes whether its COVID causing it or not).

Covidwoes · 05/01/2021 20:23

Yes I had diarrhoea with Covid.

minnie465 · 05/01/2021 20:24

Diarrhoea was my first symptom. And feeling dizzy. Over two weeks now and tummy still a bit dodgy but not like it was during the first week where everything I ate went straight through me. Other than that, my other symptoms came on a few days later and I would describe it like a heavy cold plus cough

harknesswitch · 05/01/2021 20:25

My friend did, she lost her sense of taste and smell, had a head cold and diarrhoea

Henrynextdoor · 05/01/2021 20:34

I clean public toilets and have seen a lot more diarrhea this last year.

Secretsout · 05/01/2021 20:36

Yes, It's on the symptom list when we call you from T&T (I'm a clinical case worker)

LindaEllen · 05/01/2021 20:36

DP started with an upset stomach, which I blamed on his cooking. I had to apologise and take back the comment!

Nohomemadecandles · 05/01/2021 20:38

My gran did. Hospitalised with it on a covid ward early in May. Tested pos.

It's her weak spot though. Her chest us remarkably strong! If she's ever ill, it's with her bowels.

Sandsnake · 05/01/2021 20:39

Yes, my mum is Covid positive - her initial symptoms were diarrhoea and extreme fatigue. She seems to be getting on ok though, hasn’t been too ill so far (keeping everything crossed!).

danro · 05/01/2021 20:41

Yes it was horrific, one of my worst symptoms and kept coming and going - I’d think I would be better then a few days later it would come on again.

christmasathomeagain · 05/01/2021 20:47

I've heard of couple of people at work who had s&d then positive but were fine and recovered

JourneyToThePlacentaOfTheEarth · 05/01/2021 20:48

Dh tested positive. Bad diarrhoea, fatigue, sweats and cough

Musicandmovement · 05/01/2021 20:55

Thank you so much everyone for further replies! My bowels don't Grin but my mind feels much more at ease... .

Porcupine thank you so much, that is really useful and reassuring information.

Henrynextdoor you seriously deserve some sort of award from the Queen.StarStar

I hope all of you (and family members) who are still suffering feel much better soon , and those of you who have recovered suffer no further Iill effects Flowers
