What would you expect?

Knowing what we know now about a worldwide pandemic and how to handle one (or how not to handle one), what would you expect the government to do and would you personally do anything differently having already lived through one?

I would like to see a stronger and more resilient National Health Service, instead of one that was already on its knees when the pandemic started.

Take much quicker action, sound of the alarms to make people aware, and don’t think it can’t happen to us. Shut the borders immediately, no one in or out. Masks required to be worn from the very start. I suspect that hand gel will always be around outside of shops for ever, so that would still be in place. I’d invest in schools to make them more safe e.g some type of outdoor classrooms with shelter and warmth.

Re track and trace / phe response - my youngest daughter caught whooping cough as a baby which has contact management phe guidelines. My husband had it and kept getting brushed off by doctors - "whooping cough is around." he was managing with it - although would really catch him at times terribly but we were concerned about a newborn - if they had managed correctly she could have been given preventative meds etc - thankfully she wasn't too bad and home from hospital quickly but it was very scary and that was with partial immunity (vaccine during pregnancy).

Prefer just to concern with this one first and then for the world to listen to the researchers on how the human race can reduce in the future viruses jumping species.

Prevention is better than cure.

But keep vaccination research labs fully funded just in case.
