Keyworker place?

Those who have keyworker places for their children - Do they go in every day or when you're working?

The first lockdown we rang our school on a Friday to let them know dates for the next week. Not sure what will happen this time.

Have you heard from your schools regarding This yet?

At my school it's just the days you're working. However we're flexible if a parent or carer needs to book in due to extra shifts or a changing work pattern.

@AaronPurr
Thank you for replying. We've had an email saying there's an expectation to be in each day? But not compulsory?

DD is just going on the days that both me and DH are both working.

Nohomemadecandles · 05/01/2021 19:06

Ours is a full time place or nothing. They need to be able to cover the pupil:teacher in school and provide teaching remotely adequately this time around. Last time was hit & miss around the UK! I think the expectation is different hence the rigidity.

Bloatstoat · 05/01/2021 19:08

Ours is everyday, even though I work part time so offered for him not to go in the two days I'm not working.

ScrumptiousBears · 05/01/2021 19:31

We can send ours in all week. All they say is if the child has a medical appointment they should stay off all day, they won't be allowed to pop out and back in again.

igotosleep · 05/01/2021 19:33

I offered up my husbands shifts when I was also working but they couldn’t provide ad hoc schooling so they will be going in set days Tues-Thurs instead. Some days we won’t both be working, but I did try to ensure it was only when we were.

itsgettingweird · 05/01/2021 19:36

If a child had KW place they were entitled to that place the 5 days.

It was counted as a person.

But if a parent was a shift worker/PT we just asked for the required sessions a week in advance.

It's much safer to have less children in a room!

wendz86 · 05/01/2021 19:39

They won’t be in on mine or their dads days off .

Crakeandoryx · 05/01/2021 19:45

Full time is the only option. Bubbles are set from tomorrow and no more intaking of pupils. I think it's the sensible way of managing staff and pupil numbers.

bluechameleon · 05/01/2021 20:27

Mine is only going in one day a week. We can cover the other days between us taking turns to work from home and our usual days off.

ohdoriswheresthesalad · 05/01/2021 20:55

Varies then from school to school!!

I'm hoping that they do agree to ad-hoc! I fully understand if they don't though!

If mine are offered a place I’ll send them 2 days a week, I work 2.5 days a week but can work around the half day. If I had any other option I’d not send them at all.

Tiquismiquis · 05/01/2021 21:11

Ours was 5 days or nothing. I was surprised tbh but I guess they wanted fixed numbers as they’ve created mix year bubbles.

Nonamesavail · 05/01/2021 21:12

Ours is every day

Nonamesavail · 05/01/2021 21:13

This makes sense.
