Has anyone done this last lockdown? Was it worth it? I'm not loaded by any means however I'd be willing to scrimp some money together for at least 1/2 sessions a week to get my ds actually doing some school work.

Last time was hell we don't have a printer, he refused to sit and do any more than 30 mins of work. I got stressed, he got stressed....I honestly can't bear the thought of it again.

Would it be worth getting one just to cover core subjects? He's 8 btw

I'm having the same thought this morning. The school are going to announce what their provision will be. If it's constant dull worksheets again I'm going to look at tutors in the area.

it might be worth trying to use the likes of oak academy (for a week or two) and see how he gets on. You can follow the daily schedule, I think each day has a maths, english and science lesson where the dc watches a video and completes the worksheet alongside it.

It also might be worth getting a cheap printer, have a look on ebay or gumtree or facebook marketplace, just so you can print the worksheets out x

Mine have 2 hours a week each with a tutor - one hour English and one hour of maths each.
I am trying to decide whether to add any more but I think it is about right. They enjoy it much more than just worksheets and videos from their school teachers, and it frees me up to get some of my work done (I have a very full time job) or give the other child some 1:1 support with their school work

They also do Jolie Ronde classes and and hoc outschool classes (for science/humanities/art etc)

I have realised I can't create more hours in the day so this is my solution

My son loves the tutoring because he loves learning and they can push far ahead of the curriculum.

My daughter is a very reluctant learner but the tutor is a primary teacher with a knack for getting my very assertive daughter to comply!
