Couldn't find anything on it. Has it been removed

Where does it say children under 11 don't count - they don't in scotland, but it only says you can meet one person when you are alone.

bugwife9 · 04/01/2021 23:07

Sorry that is Scotland! I saw it earlier and just assumed we were the same

yawnsvillex · 04/01/2021 23:11

@busface999

I don't think we should be meeting anyone outside at all now?

Yes you can, 1 other person

Katie517 · 04/01/2021 23:19

@FoxtrotSkarloey Nadine Dorres and Alicia Kearns. Pregnant then screwed are also campaigning for this again Smile

God I really hope they amend it, as a single parent meeting a friend for my daily walk massively improves my mental health, and I can only do that if I can take my (regularly sanitised) toddler too Sad

trulydelicious · 05/01/2021 08:27

@ImHereForTheEntertainment

I think we need to remember that, irrespective of whether a word was 'included or left out', everyone needs to minimise social contact to prevent transmission

I realise you said you will be mostly walking through a forest, but I assume this 'exercise session' will include:
-you
-your friend
-3 children (I assume not wearing masks)
-3 buggies

You can easily see how, if everyone does the same, this may cause overcrowding and aid transmission on a busy street/town (as I presume you will need to walk across town to get to these green areas?)

Please try and be sensible and keep all this to a minimum where possible, otherwise this nightmare will never end

Katie517 · 05/01/2021 09:16

Confirmed under 5s do not count

Do under 5s still not count to the meeting 1 person outside

Confirmed under 5s do not count

Great! So let's everyone go out with buggies, scooters, bikes and several unmasked children in tow to clog up streets and places because it is 'allowed'

Come Christmas 2021 we will still find ourselves in the mess we are in now

Katie517 · 05/01/2021 09:34

@trulydelicious your comment is uncalled for and nasty. The anxiety among new mums last night was huge thinking they may be fined for taking their baby out in a pram while meeting one other person for a walk. Have you experienced maternity leave and birth during a pandemic?!? If no I suggest you keep your opinions to yourself. And for everyone else I hope this news gives you a little bit of joy or is that banned now as well?!?

Sitt · 05/01/2021 09:58

I’m glad to see that is still in place. I’m afraid responses like trulydelicious’s are just standard - it’s same old same old women with children should not be taking up space in public, but people feel more able to say it now than they did pre-covid

PatchworkElmer · 05/01/2021 10:07

I’m meeting a friend this morning. Honestly, my mental health is about to implode, we both have under 5s and therefore can’t meet for a cosy 2 person walk. My son’s nursery is likely to close, I have a full time job (as does DH), I have no childcare bubble. If they take away under 5s from this rule, I am totally screwed.

Underhisi · 05/01/2021 10:07

I don't think the law has been published yet. The guidance won't cover every situation. I think that the legal exemptions that previously existed which also included carers of disabled people not counting, are likely to continue.

trulydelicious · 05/01/2021 10:15

@Sitt

women with children should not be taking up space in public

I've never said this. I'm simply talking about infection control during this pandemic

You’re perpetuating an old old attitude

LBB2020 · 06/01/2021 08:23

So glad to read that under 5’s don’t count. I have a 3 month old and a toddler with SEN, meeting a friend or family member for a walk and chat is literally all that’s keeping me sane (and from developing PND!). Having a baby is hard enough let alone during a pandemic!

tappitytaptap · 06/01/2021 08:28

If my under 5 isn’t allowed to see any children of his own age at school then damn right I will be taking advantage of this and letting him see a friend on a walk. Social skills are very important. It sucks for kids older than that though who still can’t use zoom etc to keep in touch.

Isit2021yetplease · 06/01/2021 08:57

Has anyone seen any official guidance on this? I see the NCT has put on instagram that it's ok but it's literally all off the back of Nadine Dorries Tweet - and I'm not entirely sure a tweet cuts it as official guidance?!
I would just rather know before having glares and comments thrown my way if I"m doing something perfectly allowed.

CovidPostingName · 06/01/2021 09:09

@Isit2021yetplease It was published yday, none of the itemized amendments remove the under 5s exemption provided for in the November amendment, therefore it still stands. Worth noting that there is also no legal restriction on the duration or number of times one can exercise either.

Crimblecrumble1990 · 06/01/2021 09:34

I will be assuming that it's fine. It it literally the only thing I can do to have a bit of social interaction. My entire maternity leave has now been this pandemic.

Mothers and prams 'clogging' up pavements. Jeez get a grip.

annevonkleve · 06/01/2021 09:44

I am meeting a friend for a walk on Thursday and assuming her 3 month old baby does not count. As far as I am concerned, babes in arms are an extension of their mothers - so don't count. A baby hasn't been anywhere without its parents until it goes to childcare (which my friend's baby has not).

In Scotland children under 11 (years) don't count.

annevonkleve · 06/01/2021 09:46

Not many babies on scooters, although I agree they are the work of the devil Grin

Ok great - that's a very confusing document but it makes sense! Thank you

Do you have any idea how many under 5s are harmed by someone in theown household each year.

That is why this allowance is made because babies and toddlers are more at risk from their own parents than the virus.

Also have a heart will you. Being struck at home with a baby is mental torture some times.
