Death rate by age?

polkadotpixie · 04/01/2021 18:25

Does anyone have a link to a reputable source showing the COVID mortality rate by age?

My sister is panicking that our (mid 60s and healthy) parents are going to die imminently and I need to show her evidence that that is statistically very unlikely before she has a breakdown!

Thanks 😊

this?

But am sure I have seen easier analysis to understand... think it was like 3% chance of death for age 80+; higher for males lower for females.

Better link, BMJ summary of another article in The Lancet.

"The team found that nearly one in five people over 80 infected with covid-19 would probably require hospital admission, compared with around 1% of people under 30."

So 80% chance that someone over 80 wouldn't need to be hospitalised.

Tab at the top has record of people who have died in English hospitals by age

Thanks everyone. I can't make head nor tail of the links unfortunately (I am definitely not destined to be a statistician!) but appreciate your efforts!

I need something much simpler I fear 😩

I was discussing this with a friend earlier and she sent me this. This isn't raw numbers but what % of deaths each age group totalled. So far examples 3% of all deaths were in females aged 45 to 64.

No that says that 3% of female deaths were that age group.
