Am I the only one confident we can get back to where we were back in July/August?

With a tough full lockdown and the vaccine , in a few months maybe April/May we can get back to where we were in the summer time were we could have small parties and only reporting a 1000 or less new cases a day
Keep the faith

I'm thinking it will be very similar to last summer wrt restrictions so not too bad, we never really got out much until about May last year

I think it would be stupid to let people wander round the world until it is stamped out globally.

Chances are it's never going to be 'stamped out'. Only one human disease, Smallpox, has been completely eradicated. Much more likely it will become just another seasonal virus.

@Iremembertheelderlykoreanlady

I was very positive about being back to normal by summer.

But a few things have made me feel very despondent.

  1. New strain - for obvious reasons

  2. the government's failure to implement a complete lockdown, including schools online, despite the fact that hospitals across the country are full

  3. I did the online calculator to see when I would be vaccinated. I am CV so group 6

2 weeks ago it said March/April

Today it says June to September.

If even the clinically vulnerable are not getting vaccinated until the summer then there is no hope of normality by then.

I felt a bit down when I did the calculator again but I think it’s when you have both doses so that would explain it. We should hopefully still get our first. I am group 6 as well (morbidly obese)

Re the vaccine calculator thing: I think it has been updated to allow for the longer wait between the first and second dose of vaccine and the date given is the date of the second dose.
