Really feels like March all over again

Cases through the roof; hospitals at breaking point; high death rate; government dithering and delaying while things get worse; people scared to go to work; people scared to take their children to school.

It's almost like an action replay of March 2020. We'll lockdown again but the damage will have been done and it'll take longer to get under control.

Happy New Year.

Well, it's not the same. We know better, we know what to do. We just need to keep positive and work towards the end of this.

User158340 · 03/01/2021 20:01

We know better, we know what to do.

The government have lost all control.

We have vaccines now. We didn't then. It is not like March. There is hope on the horizon.

Shitfuckoh · 03/01/2021 20:20

Our 2 schools and the pre school have closed. I'm back to home learning with 2DC, 1 if which has SNs and trying to entertain the preschooler. I do think our schools have made the right decision though, based on figures for our area. The hope is the vaccines.

Jetatyeovilaerodrome · 03/01/2021 20:22

We know better, we know what to do.

You would think! 😂

It does feel like March, but at least this time there is hope on the horizon as others have said.

LacyEdge · 03/01/2021 20:25

There is hope with the vaccines, but on the flip side we now have the right wing sceptic and conspiracist element getting in the way. It is hard not to feel like whoever’s driving this thing is asleep at the wheel.

musicalfrog · 03/01/2021 20:25

The thing about now compared to March is that now I know how fucking awful it is to try and homeschool my eldest child (it's abysmal), and now woop de doo my youngest is in school too so I've got to try it with two of them...

EmmanuelleMakro · 03/01/2021 20:27

No.
We won’t be fooled again.
This time round people aren’t swallowing the line.

Yes, there's light at the end of the tunnel but the next couple of months will be grim.

I feel like it's worse tbh, especially with scientists concerned that the south african strain may be resistant to the vaccine

LucilleTheVampireBat · 03/01/2021 20:40

I must admit I feel like it is worse this time. We have been lied and lied to over and over by the government and I feel like we are powerless! Where are the vaccines? How did that prick Boris actually say on TV "schools are safe". How long will he wait now before announcing a lockdown?

stolenwedding · 03/01/2021 20:40

@Saylethewayles where did you read that?

Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum · 03/01/2021 20:50

Yes it does a bit. Hospitals worried, shouts to close schools, government acting slow, etc

There is this time the hope of vaccination roll out but also a long winter left.

I think I will live in hope else it is all bloody depressing.

Only in the sense that they might need 4-6 weeks to tweak the vaccine.
CheeseIsMyVice · 03/01/2021 21:00

I agree. It’s even more depressing this time because we know we still have a fair few more lockdowns to come over the next couple of years until the people who need the vaccine the most will have them done. We will get used to this way of living and one day we will eventually get back to normal.

The government have done this to us because they just don’t know what they are doing. They are entirely to blame.

PicsInRed · 03/01/2021 21:00

And re-manufacture all the vaccines and redo all the jabs already done.

Fine for once a year flu jab, sure, bit of a fucking disaster so soon though.

I bloody well hope it's not resistant.

nosswith · 03/01/2021 21:16

Like March like September, no action in a timely manner from the UK government.

Who cannot even be on time for a press conference.

Years?!

No.
