Is there information out there about when the vaccinations will be administrated?

I can't find it but was wondering if I was missing it, or whether anybody eligible has spoken to their local gp surgery and found out. I was hoping a lot of the vulnerable including over 50s will be done by summer, but maybe that is wishful thinking.

I dont expect to get it for ages (30s and no known underlying conditions). I have a few friends who have long covid though so pretty rubbish not to have a light at the end of the tunnel!

Hospitals in many areas are already doing them and more will do tomorrow.

GP surgeries in every area should be doing them by the end of January, not at each one, but in one site in each group/area. Only the 1st wave ones are already doing it.

The mass vaccinations centres like football stadiums will be used once we're into the full swing of it. They are being prepared, but without supply they can't get up and running yet. Also, priority groups 1 and 2 will be harder to do at a mass centre than the lower priority groups. I don't have timings on those yet because it's so dependent on other things.

What do you mean by first wave ones? Is this still the Pfizer one?

35, just done this and it says between Jan and July 2022 😂 at that rate, and the potential for people to need this like the flu jab i.e annually I can’t see me getting it any time for the next few decades!

It would be good to know wouldn’t it?
Looking at the priority list I’m 2 (nhs), mums 4 (70+and CEX) and husband is 4 (underlying Heath condition). It would be good if they have a clearer timescale.

Where did you find this?

I've got to wait till 2022 then. I hope you can get it private before then.

I know of people who have appointment times for their vaccination. Is that what you mean?

Afaik they were contacted by their GP surgery, I'm assuming that when it's my turn they'll give me an appointment but obvioulsy I don't expect them to be able to tell me now when that will be.

The omni calculator is just intended to give an illustration based on the vaccine priority list. Hence the word "estimates" in bold at the top of it. It's essentially a fairly simple spreadsheet that has to make a number of major assumptions. It's useful for seeing how many people are ahead of you in the queue and how quickly we might be able to move through the queue depending on our vaccination rate. It's definitely not an official vaccine schedule.

It currently assumes 1m vaccines per week and my estimated vaccine date is the first half of 2022. Change that assumption to 2m per week and it's this summer. Change it to 0.5m per week and it's 2023. It's extremely sensitive to this assumption and the take-up rate.

It makes sense that it takes longer to vaccinate the elderly once you go down the years and they get mass vaccination centres surely supply allowing it will get quicker

You can change the number of vaccines per week to get a more accurate estimate.

You can change it as each weeks numbers are updated (estimate of how many vaccinations are done pw. But it'll get complicated with second doses added in.

I'm over 50, a couple of underlying issues. I'm hoping for February. What I'd appreciate knowing now is what level my GP sees me as being. I think I'll be a 6.

Though if hang around a vaccine centre if I thought I could get an otherwise wasted dose!! (After the staff obviously)

They have been 5 waves of Gp sites to date with the final one going ahead next week. Next week also sees the beginning of waves of mass sites being established. More hospitals are being supplied since the first week.

A rough estimate would put the number of vaccines sites operating next week at about 800-1000 across the UK. They are being supplied with at least one Pfizer box (975) and Oxford (400) over the course of the week. Deliveries are phased over the week but I would say this will be the start of £1m per week target being achieved. Before the mass sites start.

Why people keep quoting 2m per week as a target I don’t know. The planning is to exponentially increase rates in the run up to February. There is no target of 2m per week.

It might just be my opinion but knowing operational planning and logistics as I do, a Big Bang roll out for this programme would have fallen flat on its face. It is not just not achievable in a country of 70m. I can see why Israel could achieve it. But our logistics would have too much too far.

In reality for big operations to work those leading and implementing it need to accept the snafu principle and be prepared to deal with inevitable plan failures. Letting hospitals and GPs led the first run out meant that the right people were on the ground to deal with all problems managing supplies and start up.

The Testing programme never accepted the principle that things will go wrong and they need to plan for it. Indeed they never even seem to recognise the actuality of things going wrong. Which is the first step to putting the, right.
