Schools’ provision - will the data be published and studied?

Since provision last time was patchy and posters’ experiences were wildly different, you would think that this time schools would be required to publish the details (and I mean detail -which classes/how many per day ) and also attendance on their websites for parents to see, but also to provided centrally for analysis by Ofsted and published openly.
Would also be interesting longitudinal study on children’s outcomes /but only if the data is gathered systematically.
Am hoping that an enterprising MNetter will also start a spreadsheet we can add to gut specific schools. Would love to do it but have a day job as a teacher😀

If you are a teacher you will know that Ofsted will be asking about but not necessarily 'assessing' lockdown provision.
It is the role of the Governor's (or academy trust alternatives) to assess what was offered and the outcomes with data provided by the school.
Ask the Governors or trustees.
Better still, become one. That way you can ensure the analysis is done, even if none of the parents ask.
You will also have an understanding of how difficult it is for a specific school to provide the same as other schools (clue: £).

I am a teacher but have no interest / not SLT in Ofsted other than going what I am told when they visit.
It is entirely missing the point re individual governors etc -it had to be mandatory or the worst schools will not comply which makes the effort pointless.
Using the tired old £££ argument is a cop out. Teachers should be keeping notes of what they teach and who - these can easily be tabulated in a spreadsheet -if there are teachers who cannot inset lines into a google doc or one drive document then they need educating pronto.

As a teacher then you'd know that the government Have failed spectacularly to provide children who need it with laptops and internet. I think you need to assess that first as it would be insane to judge schools on fixed criteria when children have no way to access the work.

As a teacher you really should know...

EmmanuelleMakro · 03/01/2021 09:33

You are missing the point.
Include that in the data. This time there has been a massive shipment of chrome books to schools (including mine..) so is a shifting situation.
Why would anyone object to gathering data to inform future decision making /highlight schools where leadership had produced good practice that could be followed in future acute situations by others.

No-one objects to the gathering of data but I'm pretty sure you are not going to offer to do it in your spare time? Who do you think should be doing it and how will they be paid?

HailFairy · 03/01/2021 09:47

It also needs to be recognised that there is not one perfect model which fits every school, family or context. Schools need to provide different types of home learning depending on their catchments and the contexts in which they work. There isn’t one model which you can say is the ideal. Live lessons will work brilliantly for some, but be completely inaccessible for others.

Barbie222 · 03/01/2021 09:49

You are a teacher, and you don't know about the new remote learning guidelines, or how they're being monitored? Best get off MN and do some reading up,

Redlocks28 · 03/01/2021 09:49

You want someone on here to gather lots of data on schools for you, but you don’t want to do it yourself.

Right.

FrippEnos · 03/01/2021 10:41

Interestingly this the very similar to the desire to "name and shame" that U4T has.

Makes you wonder if they are trying to get someone else to do their dirty work.

MrsHamlet · 03/01/2021 10:44

You mean the register???

Shhh, the OP is pretending to be a teacher.
MrsHamlet · 03/01/2021 11:00

Even when I was a little kid playing at teacher, I had a register of which teddies turned up to my lessons. I didn't have learning objectives though 🤷‍♀️

DameCelia · 03/01/2021 11:51

@FrippEnos OP definitely is pretending to be a teacher, and not doing it terribly well!

Scarby9 · 03/01/2021 13:00

Maybe for those of you living in geographically smaller London boroughs, for example, this may not add much to the information you already have.
For those living in eg. Northumberland it narrows down and differentiates between the different towns and village areas and is very useful.

I’m just over here waiting for the massive shipment of chrome books to arrive...

mrshoho · 03/01/2021 13:39

Hope Hermes didn't drop and go with those chromebook shipments. They won't have lasted long on the doorsteps of all the 'closed for Christmas holidays' schools!
