Just that really. I know if you have one it's common to develop another so trying to assess risk for dd and myself.

No. It's post viral fatigue. Which is common after viruses. I have multiple autoimmune diseases and long covid is not one.

Athinginitself · 03/01/2021 00:21

We dont know yet, there seem to be different ways it affects people, from long lasting breathlessness, fatigue, heart issues etc Theres certainly some people for who a PVF diagnosis would fit, for other people it's less clear, so there might be an autoimmune element, it's just very early days as yet so little research.

I have Long Covid which afaik refers to the long-term damage to my heart. I also have Post-Covid fatigue - which is the post-viral fatigue.

Thank you. Sorry to hear of your experiences- wishing you the best.

It has many similarities to many autoimmune conditions, the killing fatigue and the joint pain for example.ple. There is research and it wouldn't surprise me because of the hallmarks of long covid. Just don't get me started on the rehab centres; I'm trying not to become a bitter old bag but I don't think it's working.

I posted a thread on this the other day. Op, long term conditions like psoriasis rheumatoid arthritis and lupus will have some priority for vaccine

CrunchyCarrot · 03/01/2021 08:40

I believe autoimmunity could be triggered by the virus, yes. As everyone's different, not everyone will go on to develop it.

My very strong belief is that if you develop long Covid, then the only way back to health is via really boosting your nutrients, getting plenty of rest and not overdoing things. Your body has to repair the damage caused by the virus, that takes time, a lot of time. I think doctors have no idea as to how to go about treating this, judging by their (lack of) treatment of CFS.

Thanks everyone. My daughter has Coeliacs and I have Thyroid issues. Both in school tomorrow in Tier 4... I'm worried for her.

I have / had (very nearly better) long Covid since mid March. For me it was chest, pain and shortness of breath and extremely high blood pressure . No previous health conditions.

Ridingthegravytrain · 03/01/2021 09:10

@housemdwaswrong I’m with you on the bitterness. No one gave a shit until it was covid related

housemdwaswrong · 03/01/2021 23:33

@ridingthegravytrain so glad it's not just me. I've typed it loads of times and deleted it, but it's ironic that those of us with autoimmune problems have had vastly reduced help since March, while dealing with these symptoms for years, and now the same symptoms because of covid are getting help thrown at them. I'll just sit in the corner and manage without then. Rant over, but v. glad it's not just me.

@Alwaysready I hope it works out, they don't have a clue about schools. Just one coherent strategy would be all it takes.
