What is keeping you positive for 2021

I know January is a depressing month in normal circumstances let alone with all the restrictions.
I thought we could share tips for keeping positive and motivated in the next few months.
I decided in the first lockdown to keep a routine and regular sleep pattern.
On furlough again I decided to buy a sewing machine quite cheaply and take up an old hobby.
I've been cooking new things at home from cheap or free veg.
I am excited for spring and sunnier days.
Taking pictures for Instagram that might make someone inspired to cook.
What have you been doing to keep your spirits up?

It's hard. This could be a short thread.
I cheer myself up daydreaming about future holidays. I check flight prices with no intention of booking until this is over.

TammyHullfigure · 02/01/2021 20:43

Not much at the moment.

InvincibleInvisibility · 02/01/2021 20:48

2 totally unexpected disability diagnoses for DS1 in September and November mean that he's getting weekly help from professionals so I hope they will help him and life will get easier for us all. Although as he was crying tonight about going back to school on Monday (not Uk) it's a slim hope but I need something.

Char2015 · 02/01/2021 20:48

Fertility treatment and hopefully a baby by the end of this year.

Vaccine.

InvincibleInvisibility · 02/01/2021 20:49

And for me Im going to take time to read books which I love doing but never have time.

whatisforteamum · 02/01/2021 20:50

I don't deny it is tricky living on a small budget waiting to see if I still have a job but for some reason I still feel hopeful.

My town have advertised their open air cinema for next summer. It's such a good atmosphere, I can't see why it can't go ahead.

onedayinthefuture · 02/01/2021 21:01

Obviously I have other things to look forward to but seeing something actually advertised excites me.

FeminismandWomensFights · 02/01/2021 21:07

Very little, but lurking for ideas! I’m trying to reconnect with as many people as possible virtually so that when we do get out of this it won’t feel so much like we haven’t seen each other for months..

2022

SandysMam · 02/01/2021 21:16

Looking forward to the summer and spending time in the garden.

Watching films and burning nice candles.

Getting the kids washed, fed, played with. I find looking after them immensely satisfying, know it sounds weird but after each meal I say well done, lunch done etc! I love putting them to bed each day knowing they have had a good, happy and safe day. Even though life is boring at that moment, getting them through it helps get me through it if that makes sense! Not to say I don’t find parenting hard as I totally do but I notice I enjoy it more when I see it as a challenge rather than a chore!

Slytherin · 02/01/2021 21:23

Hopefully meeting my best friend’s baby in the summer (she’s due March but we live 5 hours apart so I doubt I’ll meet her until then)

Have a UK holiday booked in August by the sea, so hoping I can go!

Freetodowhatiwant · 02/01/2021 21:27

The days getting longer
My parents having the vaccine
Being able to travel to see my parents again
Schools reopening (now on the 18th! 😱)
Warmer days
Kickstarting my own business (I sound like an MLM bot, definitely not!!)
Enjoying having moved to the seaside
Pubs and cafes opening hopefully

Doublechins · 02/01/2021 21:28

My SIL is due to give birth to my nephew this month and I'm just hanging on to the hope that I get to give him a cuddle at some point this year 🤞

whatisforteamum · 02/01/2021 21:31

I am hoping to get another cat.I lost my old one in the first lockdown. The positives of owning a furchild cannot be underestimated. It is a big commitment though.😺

Being able to see my mum again sometime this year. She’s in her eighties and I haven’t seen her since the summer.
Snowdrops. Bulbs coming up. Apple blossom. Dd finishing GCSEs.
Warm sunshine. Bees being out and about. Going to the beach.

princessjasmineofagrabah · 02/01/2021 21:38

A trip to Disneyland Paris in October - I'm confident it'll be open and able to travel by then, even though it'll be very different to the norm.

sittingonacornflake · 02/01/2021 21:45

I've booked a (UK self catering) holiday for September.

Started the bodycoach app and already feeling SO much better. Way more energy and feeling less stressed, looking forward to passing the next few months of lockdown / tiers achieving some fitness and health goals.

But yes as with everyone else, spring is round the corner, nights are gradually getting lighter. I can't wait to enjoy the outdoors, the beach etc but for now I'm enjoying cosying up at home and taking it a bit easy.

AHippoNamedBooBooButt · 02/01/2021 21:52

Well obviously The hope of a vaccine and that things will hopefully be normal by the end of the year.
The thoughts of spring on its way - hopefully we’ll have some lovely weather like last year. The weather was really beautiful in 2020.
Today I also found Tom Daley has an Instagram account for his knitting and crochet projects. Now that really did make me smile today, can’t fully explain why, by it did. (Madewithlovebytomdaley for anyone else wanting to check it out)

BlandDesigns · 02/01/2021 22:41

I had my first baby during the first lockdown and I'm loving watching him grow and develop. We moved into our new house just before Christmas so I'm keeping myself occupied with planning how to decorate. I'm also looking forward to the lighter nights and warmer days so that I can get out in the garden (moved from a flat so it's the first time I've had my own garden which is hugely exciting to me). Yes, I'm easily pleased!

girlofthenorth · 02/01/2021 23:13

Getting the vaccine , my elderly DF getting vaccine and it enabling him to have more of a normal life .
