It really is one rule for London and one for everybody else .

It isnt just London, its Essex and Kent too

Basically the areas with the highest infection rate

Wsdhgujn · 02/01/2021 01:45

Umm or London primary school kids denied any education that the rest of the country can get and that my taxes pay for?

I get teachers being annoyed but surely if you don’t want to send your kid to school in the rest of the country you don’t have to. Where as I do not have the option and am unlikely to have the option for a very long time I don’t see that as an “advantage” really!

In fact sort of annoying we cannot do a swap and let parents like me access education in your kids place! I know it doesn’t work like that but I think the London kids have it good they never have to go to school again narrative is a bit odd. It doesn’t feel like my kid is at an advantage from where I am standing whether it is necessary for the public health control or not

Saylethewayles · 02/01/2021 01:47

No kid is really at an advantage here let's face it

Whatever side of the schools debate you're on

This is another u turn as not all London Boroughs were on the original list which yes did initially include other areas outside London.
I think my post was prompted by the fact that no action was taken when areas in the North had similar figures.

Yes but it’s two ways of looking at the sane situation. My niece abs nephew have attended school throughout despite high levels because in my mind kids there never lost their right to an education. Now our London borough has rates the same as Liverpool at the height but my kids cannot go to school and probably will not be able to for a long time?

I agree it’s a different approach for a different area but it doesn’t feel to me that we are the ones who ended up advantaged? It’s true there are winners and losers in both situations really whichever way you look at it

Think that's because that wasn't a new strain and this is

@Saylethewayles a good point.

Agreed I think it may only be a matter of time before we are back to much more geographically widespread (if not blanket national) primary school closures due to this new variant.

Saylethewayles · 02/01/2021 02:05

Agree that all schools will almost certainly be closed within the next fortnight

Mummyto3gorgeousgirlies · 02/01/2021 02:07

Maybe it's because with the new variant the numbers show cases are continuing to incline. Previously weren't numbers coming down and the tiers working to reduce infection rates?

Wsdhgujn · 02/01/2021 02:17

London has been in Tier two, tier three, tier four and now tier five (lets call it that as it is tier four with schools closed) within a fortnight.

I mean it’s a little early to say if anything has worked cases will never come down two days after restrictions are announced! The incubation times is two weeks. Quite frankly it’s all changed to quickly in too short a time for us to ever know if rates did come down wether it specifically needed schools to close to achieve it.

RememberSelfCompassion · 02/01/2021 04:10

Im keeping my child off for 2 weeks . We're tier 4 and outside of london. Rate not as high but over 200 per 100k. A rate that mknths ago would have seemed crazy.
