Hi all. Wondering if anyone out there has been in the same situation. I was shielding since Feb/March. Have been notified again to shield when we went into Tier4.

Husband has been doing the chores and errands. 4 days ago he started to feel unwell. He had a home test and today the result came back positive. I have been contacted and told to isolate. I have no spleen. Which means very compromised immune system. I am terrified. DH is quarantined in the spare room which has an en-suite. I have washed every service he could of touched but I have shared a house with him between test and result..
Anyone out there ECV who got the virus ? How did you get on ? Did you need hospital? Have you got after affects /long Covid ?

Congrats OP!!!

I know this is not the same but just in case it does make you feel a bit better, my friend has covid currently and is a bad asthma sufferer. She's a week in and whilst she's been unwell and knackered, she's not found it's affected her asthma really. Take care op x

My parents are both ECV and caught the virus around Xmas. My dad in particular has IPF which in some ways acts like a slow version on Covid. Im really pleased to say they are on the mend after 5-7 days of aches and pains. Weirdly my younger and much fitter brother had more symptoms than my parents.

I posted about it on an earlier thread, and im linking it here as some posters provided some really helpful advice

Thank you everybody, it's really difficult to express exactly how I feel, but if you are ECV, you have spent so much time trying to protect yourself from this thing that becomes almost theoretical.… And Then your DH becomes positive and it all becomes really real... I just prayed.. I had visions of being on a ventilator.. saying goodbye to my 25, 23 &18 yr old. I am SO FUCKING RELIEVED !! Will NEVER take chances again...

Every Covid denier needs to read the Covid threads to know this is REAL...

Thank you everyone for your amazing support . Xxxx

I’m glad it’s worked out I can’t imagine being in your shoes I get stressed when the household is potentially exposed I don’t know how I’d cope if one became infected
