Scottish Primary School Closures

FirTree31 · 31/12/2020 18:54

I feel a bit silly posting this, but with all the discussion on English Primary Schools and the news announcements on the BBC, and not hearing from my DC Primary, I'm getting a bit lost. I received an email with a link to a survey to input key worker info, thats all.

There is a blanket delay on all schools in mainland Scotland, not starting until 18 January at the earliest...isn't there?!

Yes.
Children have an extended holiday until the 11th.
Online teaching until the 18th.
It should be on your LA website.

I think some vunerable children are allowed in at the tail end of next week in my local authority. 7th and 8th. Then the following weeks will be keyworkers and vunerable children.
Noone knows yet what form this will take.
I am a teacher and know that on Wednesday we have to go in.
Noone in my school knows what is happening next week regarding what we are meant to do on Wednesday. Fun and games!
I am assuming it will be rotas for hubs and online learning organisation.

All teachers in my local authority are expected in school [without the kids] on Wednesday. Just to clarify.

Fortherosesjoni70 · 31/12/2020 19:33

You should have received an email or a text message giving you that detail. I did for my own children.

They dont have an extended holiday at all they should all be learning from there usual return date
EachDubh · 31/12/2020 19:35

Depending on your authority keyworker and vulnerable children, also asn children will have a place in school starting from either the first day back or the next day. You authority will have decided criteria for keyworker, ours is still both parents must be keyworkers out of home.
Next week will be childcare for those at school and offsite learning will start from 11-18th Jan, hopefully with number falling/stabilising enough to allow return on the following Monday.

Primaries in Scotland have an extended holiday there will be no teaching until Monday the 11th.

Fortherosesjoni70 · 31/12/2020 19:40

We were told that they have an extended holiday to the 11th and from the 11th - 18th it is online learning.

EachDubh · 31/12/2020 19:40

Sorry to clarify the extended holiday is pupils only staff are all working from normal return date.

My class is in full time so I will be working as normal regardless. Happy Hogmanay to you all

Fortherosesjoni70 · 31/12/2020 19:40

Oh no, teachers dont. Just children.

EachDubh · 31/12/2020 19:41

Fortherosesjoni70

You are correct, the first minister made that decision for all Scottish schools.

How come?
Fortherosesjoni70 · 31/12/2020 19:42

My own children are beside themselves with happiness:)

Fortherosesjoni70 · 31/12/2020 19:43

Happy NewYear to you too :)

EachDubh · 31/12/2020 19:46

I teach ASN so they are backbas normal, which I am glad about because it canbbe very hard forbour kids and families to cope otherwise.
My own kids are happy but a bit worried as they will have to go to grandparents for care rather than home . But needs must and they enjoy seing grandparents.

Thank you. I'm feeling pretty anxious about things, and sort of bogged down with the devolved nations taking different routes. I do wish changes would be UK wide instead of broken up, although I understand people In low infection rate areas probably wouldn't.

The online learning was pretty poor last time, stressful and consuming, so we'll be reading our own books I think. I'm a student nurse, I have placement violence and aggression training next week which I won't be able able attend, but I understand the need for a circuit breaker.
