How do we get out of this?

I've read a number of threads on here today, mainly Government-bashing as usual, another trying to compare the UK with New Zealand, and various threads about teenagers wanting to go to parties tonight in T4 areas. I despair!!

All that aside, how do people seriously think we are going to get out of this situation. Yes, I know vaccines are coming on stream but with the best will in the world, it will be at least Easter before the vulnerable categories have been immunised, then another month before the last-vaccinated develop immunity, so May time at the earliest.

Do people think this will be our salvation or do you see it going on and on and on?

I go between feeling hopeful that we will see an improvement by March to feeling very despondent, particularly if you look at the stats over the last few days. It is horrendous. We are right back where we were in March, having gone through the mill this year.

I’d like a strict lockdown until the end of February and put everything into producing the vaccine and getting as many people vaccinated as possible.

So no schools, shopping trips limited and only certain items for sale (stop people using it for a social outing) and very limited travel from home address. Lower cases as much as possible so hospitals can save as many people as possible and others don’t get infected and then review. The March lockdown really reduced numbers so time to do the same again.

I don't know. But I know that according to mumsnet you just line up a firing squad for anyone "breaking the rules (including the ones I just made up)" and you're all sorted.

I think things will be better by Easter but normality won’t return for some time, it’ll take a long time to vaccinate the whole uk....vaccination is the only way out

As a sign of hope infection rate in Kent is dropping, and at a district council level on the Covid map, areas are moving from brown to purple & from purple to dark blue. You may recall Kent seemed to be the first large area infected with the new strain.

I think the only way out is the vaccine and that's is going to take some time to implement and coordinate.

Things might start looking up by Easter but normal as in back to how we were a year ago before it all kicked off...well maybe by the end of 2021?

I've already pretty much written off 2021 in my head. No holidays abroad etc. Another year with masks at my desk at work.
