Not one mention of them tonight and how well they are doing!
Im an early years practitioner and going back next tuesday. We have sneazing coughing children who we cuddle and hug and pick up.
There was no praise for us in the speech tonight, we just carry on!
Sorry to rant!

It is a shame how early years professionals are treated - both in acknowledgement and in pay etc.

I've worked right through since March and while there have been some changes in regards to things like keeping in bubbles, extra cleaning, no parents coming in etc it's also been a little slice of normality for me to go to work. It's been nice to interact with our little ones in the way we always would in a world where we're not allowed to interact normally outside. That said, I'm not vulnerable.

I have been very careful to limit who I see and where I go outside of work so that I can protect people as I could be a potential carrier. We haven't had any known positive cases at work. However my daughter tested positive over Christmas and I'm still negative which makes me wonder if I've actually had it or been exposed to it enough to be immune, which wouldn't be a surprise given the lack of PPE in early years.

Huge respect and appreciation for all eyfs staff. The nursery by Ds attends have kept him safe made him feel safe and have been there to give hugs, a knee to sit on, and so on. I'm a secondary teacher, I can wear a mask in communal areas and (try) distance from students. Eyfs can't.
You are so appreciated Flowers

Thank you for this thread. Love and solidarity to everyone working in nurseries. I work in one in a London borough and an already feeling sick from the stress of next week. I have already spent nearly the whole Christmas break alone due to having to isolate.

But it gives me strength to know that some people at least appreciate us 💐

Yes I work in early years and despite a life threatening virus we can all work as normal with barely a mention. We are just cannon fodder. Hate boris and the whole shitty government with a passion.

Ilovegreentomatoes · 30/12/2020 23:20

We should be in a lockdown but of course boris will wait till we are all on our knees then lockdown anyway.

I’m not sure that lockdown would make any difference to the staff at my son’s nursery. Nothing is open here in tier 4. The nursery was open throughout for key workers’ children, which due to its location is almost all parents
