What is the cut off for closing primary schools?

I am surprised not to find my area on the list of areas just released by the government. Where I live the rates are higher (according to the BBC) than several of the London boroughs on the list - 2 of which we border.

Can any body shed any light (have a guess) at what the criteria might be?
Following with interest as I am a primary teacher with primary age DCS in a different borough.

I don’t really understand the threshold

Ours are shut at 574 per 100,000.

I don't think they said, but I suspect it'll be something to do with the three steepest graphs that JVT showed us

Here the rates are over 650 - but the schools are staying open?

Maybe it’s to do with hospital capacity? I don’t know.

phlebasconsidered · 30/12/2020 18:30

Fuck knows. Our hospital is at capacity and we are at just below that supposed threshold and yet it's school for me on Monday. Clearly not to do with rate rise as ours is bloody shocking.

Maybe if you live in areas where schools are closed ones life is of a higher value?!....yes I'm being flippant but I think the whole situation is diabolical.

It’s a bit creepy that they’re thinking ‘Ok It can spread in these areas as we have room for the bodies in hospital’.
