AIBU to think that people should legally be required to stick to a certain travel zone around their house?

It won't stop Covid.
But it will reduce the number of people from an infected area going to another area with lower infections.
Maybe say a 10 mile zone - unless you have a really good reason (such as it's the nearest food shop, hospital, GP - or caring for someone)

It should stop people going to pubs etc, shops from areas of high infection.

Our Tier 2 city has just gone to Tier 3. We had a lot of people from other cities come to our city over December.

So many people saying that it worked with xyz’s lockdown. OP wants it to work with everything open at some point.
It’s much easier to police during a lockdown as less people are moving about as pubs, bars, restaurants, leisure centres, sports clubs, cinemas, bowling, shops, theatres, sports events, theme parks etc are all closed.

Although having said that, I have 3 theme parks in the 10 mile boundary from my house that would be really quiet with OPs rules 😂

I think people are forgetting that Covid doesn't care whether you are doing something "legal" or not. We seem to have made an association of covid infection with breaking the rules - so if you get it you must have done something wrong or been infected by someone who has. This is simply not true. You can get it at any point from anyone or thing that is perfectly within the rules. I am far more likely to get it in my classroom (legal) than going to a rather nicer outdoor space than my local one (not legal). I absolutely agree that people should avoid mixing in large groups, hands face space etc but I completely disagree with micromanaging tiers and loads of variations that encourages people to go from one place to another. Cases are rising due to winter / new variant / schools open / Christmas. People travelling from a T3/4 to a T2 for a little Christmas shopping, or driving to the large outside spaces are not what is tipping the balance.

Don’t agree, my DP lives 19 miles away and it’s really not that far.
Agree with sticking to tiers and following rules though. Sadly I know plenty people who are teachers who left London to come up north for Christmas after the Tier 4 announcement.

Are then pubs open anywhere in England now?
Restaurants only take-away, right?
