Isolation confusion

If a member of a household has covid the remaining members of the household have to SI obviously. But what I don't understand is if another member of the household then gets a positive the other remaining people don't re-start their isolation. They just do the 10 days from the original persons symptoms.

Can someone explain why please?

They have completed the incubation period since first exposure so just do 10 days, I guess they think that there would be a high likelihood of you contracting it within the household and showing symptoms in that time.

Maybe less compliance if people end up having to isolate for weeks and weeks as each person in a family gets a new positive result. Its about reducing risk not eradicating it

I thought isolation did start over again? Except for the people who have tested positive. And is it not only 10 days for the positive people, and 14 for everyone else. No wonder everyone is confused.

dementedpixie · 30/12/2020 13:15

Its 10 days for everyone now, not 14
As a new person in a family tests positive they isolate for their 10 days but the rest of the people don't start a new 10 day isolation and continue on the original 10 day period

I was wondering if it was more down to compliance as surely the other members of the household could catch it from the new person who is positive.

We have the same flowchart from our school.. It conflicts with information some of my work team are been given when rang by track and trace. I understand letting those who have had it out but not child 2... Would they really want that child back at school

Ahh thanks for that dementedpixie, I hadn't realised it had changed on the 14th

Oh that's useful, thanks Demented. We've received positive results for DS1 this morning, just hoping the rest of us get it

Don't get it!! ShockGrinGrin
