Yabu- I won’t
Yanbu- I will
As an aside what would convince those who aren’t to send them and does anyone know if schools will be issuing fines?

Looks like I have a clear answer based off early results

Yes I will, I can't vote as I'm on the app.

We're a low risk household, no shielders or illness.

Toaskif1 · 30/12/2020 00:06

100% yes!!!

nancybotwinbloom · 30/12/2020 00:08

Yes.

Toaskif1 · 30/12/2020 00:08

20% now say no. Please explain why?

I will be sending mine as there were no positive cases amongst pupils or staff last term.

AlexaShutUp · 30/12/2020 00:09

I will send dd back. She is in year 11 so it wouldn't be fair to keep her at home if schools are open. However, I'm hoping that the government will see sense and delay the re-opening until things are more under control. It's crap from an educational point of view, but we cannot just allow the virus to spread.

Online learning would be better than nothing. Blended learning (with kids in on a rota) would be great.

Givemeabreak88 · 30/12/2020 00:10

Yes I will. I will never take them out whilst the school stay open.

Mintjulia · 30/12/2020 00:12

Yes. He's a fit & healthy 12yo. His school has been superb so far and there have been no confirmed cases so far.

But if we have to go back to Zoom classes, we'll cope!

MsAwesomeReindeer · 30/12/2020 00:15

I'm sending dd back. She's in year 6. She's too young to be left at home alone all day (although she does have to walk home to an empty house most afternoons). Dh and I have to go to work. If all schools are closed I would be at home though, so would keep her at home then and we'd both do our online lessons from opposite ends of the dining table.

1stMrsFatherChristmas · 30/12/2020 00:18

Yes, obvs

AndcalloffChristmas · 30/12/2020 00:24

Yes. I think it’s still compulsory!

They do need their education, although I’m a bit concerned about sending dd in with her asthma.

Porcupineintherough · 30/12/2020 00:39

I hope they postpone the return of secondary schools but if they are open, my two will be going.

doubleshotespresso · 30/12/2020 00:40

YABU no way is D.C. going in . Tier 4 here and numbers are now insane. No school is Covid safe

SarahAndQuack · 30/12/2020 00:42

I'll send DD to nursery because I have a job.

There's no other realistic option, is there? Unless you are very wealthy and/or your household already operates with one parent out of work, you can't suddenly pivot to losing 50% or more of income, plus a huge detrimental impact on job prospects, by having one parent stay home.

Gooseysgirl · 30/12/2020 00:46

Yes - key worker kids so they'll be going back whether school is fully open or not. We're in a tier 4 high covid rate area, we await the decision as to whether our schools will be opening to all or not...

ScatteredMama82 · 30/12/2020 00:49

My kids have been back since before summer (reception now y2 and y5 now 6). No time off, no cases at all in school. They have thrived being back. No way will we keep them home if we don’t have to.

TheSunIsStillShining · 30/12/2020 00:51

Mine hasn't been in since Sept. I am in the process of talking to LEA. No fines yet, but they are on my back asking for CV status paper from GP.

MrsMomoa · 30/12/2020 00:53

Yep, they're going back. As am I.

RainMoon · 30/12/2020 00:55

No.
Friends only sending them back for the childcare issues

Thisseatisnotavailable · 30/12/2020 00:55

We haven't decided yet tbh. My eldest is yr11 so really can't afford to miss anymore, we are in Tier 4 though and the figures get scarier everyday.

If there was an adequate online alternative set up properly then I would opt for that. When their year was self-isolating at the end of last term they weren't getting much through online at all.

Lairyfightzzzz · 30/12/2020 00:55

No. He's 4.5. Cases are 900 per 100k in my area. Not risking it. We know nothing of the long term effects of this illness.

I wfh and we live in a small flat with no garden, so it will be hell, but the alternative is not acceptable to me.

Shodan · 30/12/2020 00:57

Yes, definitely.

The school has been really good with their safety measures, ds2 is a very healthy 13 year old, we have no vulnerable people in our immediate bubble/circle.
