Who has had covid and is obese

I'm just wondering if there is anyone willing to share their story who has had covid and is obese (especially BMI over 35) but not considered CV with BMI over 40. How sick did you get? Did you end up in hospital? How old are you and do you have any other illnesses?
As you may have guessed I have a BMI over 35, in 39 and otherwise I'm fairly healthy (no diabetes, no illnesses, seldom get sick or if I do it's very mild) I do have a baby of one year though who is at nursery and a husband who works in a school and I'm terrified of getting covid and dying because I'm so fat. I'm trying to lose weight but it feels like two steps forward and two steps back sometimes and I'm not really getting anywhere and it's frustrating as I can't even go to weight loss meetings as I'm in tier four. I'm not BMI over 40 so don't qualify for vaccines or flu shots either but I'm pretty sure it's not a magic number where you are fine at 39.9 and dying at 40.....
Just want to know how bad people have had it in my situation?

I'm huge...I'm talking off the scale, make an blue whale look thin type fatty, I felt really rough from day 5-10 and then improved with each passing day, Try not to worry OP, even if you are obese the chances of being severely ill are still very small.

Youth and being female are good things as well. Interesting thread.

BMI 30. Felt really awful for 4 days and could barely move. But no breathing issues. Mild symptoms comparatively I think.

Thank you everyone! I've been so nervous about DD returning to nursery after Xmas and have been really considering keeping her home (although how that balances with work I haven't yet worked out) but you have all made me feel a lot better.

I am taking the vitamin D already - have been for about two months now and I have shrugged off a number of the colds DD has brought home already so hopefully that's a good sign. I've been taking the max recommended dose, it's interesting to hear that others have too and it may have helped.

Thank you again everyone for sharing your stories - I've found it really reassuring and appreciate it x

@ThatsNotTheTeaHunty

Interesting thread. OP have you had a flu jab? It's best for everyone to get one where they can it's about £15 privately.
I haven't - they weren't available last time I checked and I don't qualify for one on the NHS although I do have asthma. I wonder if I could ask for one now

You do qualify for the NHS flu jab if you have asthma - my OH got his free (I paid for mine although I think my BMI would have got it me free too). We had ours at Boots and you just tick the asthma box on the booking form.

So I have covid! And it seems I've had it for a week already but I had no covid symptoms. I have a sore throat, chills but no fever, weird taste in my mouth (came on yesterday) sore chest and aches and pains. I've used an Oxymeter and I'm getting worrying readings from 92-96 so I'm a little freaked out. I'm also exhausted.
DD has no symptoms (only one) but is disgruntled and tired - but she had her 12 month jabs last week so we put it down to that.
I'm not sure what to do - should I speak to someone about oxygen levels? Did anyone else have this?

There was little bit of this on the Phil and Holly show this morning.

There was a doctor speaking that said obesity causes a higher or elevated inflammatory response in the body and when infected with covid, the inflammatory markers are starting from a higher point and then an inflammatory storm happens.

He recommends exercising daily and an anti inflammatory diet and eliminate bad/white carbs and replace with wholegrain, and other recommendations.

I would be interested in learning more. Does stress cause a high inflammatory response in the body? If so I would be very fcujed if I got cobmvid because I am obese and my job is a pack of shit.

A lot of my weight issues came from childhood and growing up in poverty and a poor diet. I was able to maintain my weight and size at a size 16 for a long, long time. Until my late 20s. Then I got bigger, to a size 18 and then a size 20. A lot of this is being time poor from work. My diet is very clean now (except for during the Christmas).

I would be interested in learning if stress contributes to a high inflammatory response in the body and if so what can be done about it? My main area of stress is definitely from my job.

My uncle had it, he’s in his 60s and morbidly obese. He had a mild cough and was tired for a few days. Now completely fine.
