Only 1 from a family of 4 test positive?

Hi

Just wondering how common this is?

My DD tested positive 20th Dec.

Myself, partner and DS all fine still now with no symptoms (DD no symptoms either). Partner lateral tests twice weekly for work and all negative. Our SI ends tomorrow and not a cough, temp or anything we've had?

I’m in a family of 5 I’m the only one who tested positive. I was 1 of 20 at work.

Only 1 positive in our household of 4.

LIZS · 29/12/2020 15:51

Yes, sil family only one positive, rest tested negative twice.

miimblemomble · 29/12/2020 16:20

Me too: DH and 2xdc tested negative and never developed symptoms despite living with positive me throughout.

Willyoujustbequiet · 29/12/2020 17:10

My friends kids have all tested positive. The parents are negative. One of the parents is in hospital with the exact same symptoms yet the test remains negative.

I dont rate their accuracy

We all got it in the end but it took almost 2 weeks from the first child going down.

DH got his positive 14th dec. I got mine 24th dec, just as I came out of SI. Dc3 positive Christmas Day, but dcs1&2 both negative and still showing no symptoms.

Eminybob · 29/12/2020 17:23

BIL, SIL and their dc all got tested as part of a study. Only SIL was positive (no symptoms)

I know of a household with 2 positive tests 3 negative. One of the 3 had symptoms, so assumed it was a false negative.

It happened to us.
My household participating in a test trial for Office of National Statistics and Oxford University.

All tested weekly (me, DH two DC in early 20's) A few months ago I had a positive test-everyone else negative. If I'd not been in the trial I would have never known. Felt like I had a cold but no covid symptoms.
About 10 days later we all tested negative.
Getting antibody test next week and will be very interested to see if I have any or it was a false positive!
