Chance that someone had covid at Xmas....if we all catch it could we share childcare

So we had my sisters and families round on Xmas day as per tier 2 rules, today one of my sisters developed a cough so has had a test, if she comes back positive and in turn the rest of us have caught it would it be unreasonable to support each other with childcare say for example it wiped me and my DH out but another family member is positive with very mild symptoms could we let that family member babysit our toddlers? I don’t see why this would be a problem if we were all positive and my DC were going straight into their car then too their house. Hopefully it’s negative and we won’t have to worry as now in tier 4 so seeing nobody but on a personal level my biggest worry is being really ill and still having to parent a 3 and 2 year old!

In the unlikely event that both you and your dh were wiped out at the same time and both totally unable to provide care for your toddlers, then you would have to make alternative arrangements. In that situation a family member that has already had a positive test is likely the safest option.

I don’t think it’s a great idea. The viral load issue for a start. Plus you’d be leaving the house while positive- what if you have a car accident or end up stopping for an emergency for some reason and put others at risk?

Stop jumping ahead, I know it's hard, but you don't even know if the cough's just a cough yet. Or whether you and/or yr DH would contract it. Or whether either of you would be very ill.

Obviously if you're both v poorly you'll have to make decisions and it'll come under emergency childcare.

If she comes back positive you all have to isolate.
The chances of her having it, you having it and both of you being so ill you cant look after your kids is slim to none.
Even if you are ill, both at the same time, unless you physically cant move to get out of bed you will just have to get on with it.
You shouldn't be leaving the house or mixing households unless in emergency.

Thanks all hopefully it’s just a cough! I’m honestly more scared of isolating with toddlers than anything else! X
