If you’ve had Covid do you feel more relaxed about it?

My daughter tested positive on Christmas Day and is already better. We’re isolating to make sure the rest of us don’t get symptoms but I think we’re all a bit more relaxed about it now after nearly a year of trying to avoid it.

Just wondering if you’ve had it or been in a household with mild cases and now feel less worried. Obviously we will still do what we can to avoid passing it on to more vulnerable people. I should add that personally this was our first brush with it directly and don’t know anyone who has had to go to hospital with it.

Definitely more worried now. On day 14 and have been very poorly, have been prescribed an inhaler as feeling breathless, definitely don't want to catch this again!!!

No, because I realise how incredibly mild my symptoms were at first and how many people could potentially be walking round with it without knowing- it makes me more scared for my parents/ elderly family etc. The mildness of it (at first, I was quite unwell for a few days) also makes me fearful of the implications of increases in cases on our economy and of future lockdowns. The more people who go about carrying on with their mild symptoms, the more likely we are to need a further lockdown, and lockdowns will be just as catastrophic to our society.

I also have found that my mental health has really suffered as a result of the virus, not the overall pandemic- my actual brain chemistry is really unsettled and I am an emotional wreck some days. I'm worried about how long this would go on for, and how it could affect people if it's a common lasting effect.

OH tested positive for antibodies in October. He is a care worker. I was relieved and so was he. Phew. We thought.

He is now having weekly PCR tests as part of his job and tested POSITIVE for a current Covid infection on Boxing Day!

So I was relaxed about it but now I'm not.

Apparently false positives are around 2% for both antibody and PCR tests so that might explain it. He either didn't have antibodies or he doesn't have Covid now. Or he may be one of the rare (according to the evidence) cases of re-infection!

@AVictoryProduct or maybe this different strain caused a new infection?

Maybe. I really don't like the not knowing. It's all so confusing.
