When will we get a vaccination?

Half my NHS department is off with coronavirus or self isolating with it, over Christmas there were three of us working, everyone else off sick. We are allied professionals working in the hospital, not nurses but exposure to it daily.
We have been told they don't know when we will be vaccinated, might not be for some time, same with the nurses.
Yet all the local nursing homes have had vaccinations as have my 80 year old parents who have deliveries but never leave the house.
Given there will soon be hardly any staff left to care for any sick people what is the logic of that?
i don't have any kids at home to worry about or anything but I'd quite like to be able to continue working and looking after patients that come in but apparently there is no date anytime in the future that we will get our vaccinations, there was some vague mention of April.
Seems all cock eyed to me. NHS staff sickness is at an all time high and people are dropping like flies yet people in nursing homes are the priority here? I don't understand the rationale.

But the actual mechanism of cocooning - that you lauded as being the method by which we should protect the elderly while you get the vaccination, isn't working well, is it? Clearly the figures show is is less than useless.

I would also like to see paramedics and community carers prioritised too. Once the Oxford vaccine is available, we will hopefully see all NHS, teachers, dentists, police and also military staff working on Covid logistics get prioritised.

Both my sisters who work in hospitals have been vaccinated. Its literally a matter of days before the much easier Oxford vaccine will become available and make it so much easier to get this monumental job done.

I'm personally not rushing for the vaccination. I've tested positive for antibodies and more than happy to wait.
But I do think the vaccination programme should give greatest benefit to the most people quickly, and that other groups should take priority over those often at end of or with a very poor quality of life.
Cocooning isn't ideal, but the virus is far more likely to be spread by bus drivers, teachers, shopworkers etc.

I work in a care home and still no sign of a vaccine for either residents or staff.
