Symptom timeline from exposure

Hi everyone I could have potentially came into contact with someone on Wednesday who had tested positive for Covid . Dh friend stood at our door exchanging gifts and then told dh he’s been having symptoms so went for a test the night before which we have now found out is positive. What is the likely hood of us catching Covid through handling of items as we were not close enough and were outside . Also can anybody explain their timeline of exposure, tests or symptoms please

If you were outside, distanced, didn't touch the presents again until Christmas Day and washed your hands after they'd left I'd say you had little chance. But little chance is never zero. I know you're looking for reassurance, and you probably will be fine, but just keep an eye out for any symptoms :).

And by the way, anyone who goes to someone else's house while waiting for test results because they have symptoms is a DICK.

@LindaEllen we put the by the tree taking them out of the cloth bags they were in. Completely forgot to wash my hands as I had a teething baby that needed settling. I agree, I’ve told dh how angry I am at his friends

@Thirtymumma I am in the same situation regarding potential exposure to virus from handling objects. I can’t find enough information on the risk on getting Covid through touching of object

I think you are probably quite safe. I met up with a friend outside on Monday for a walk who fell ill with symptoms and tested positive 3 days later. So far no symptoms for me. Haven’t been contacted by track and trace but no plans to go anywhere anyway.

Thirtymumma · 28/12/2020 16:04

@Imiss2019 I hope you continue to have no symptoms. I heard that if you were outside then test and trace don’t contact you. I’m not sure how true that is

Outdoors? Risk virtually zero. Just keep an eye out for symptoms, but you are very likely to be fine.

@letsmakethetea

Dh husbands friend brought some presents around on wednesday was standing two meters away but we exchanged presents and I was worried I could potentially catch it from that. It’s been five days now and I have no symptoms other than my asthmatic symptoms . What are the likely hood that it would show up on a test if I had it now
