Ok so asking for my DH, he and two of my 3 DC are currently awaiting test results, kids had a mild cough 3 days or so, no other symptoms and otherwise fine. Myself and other DC nothing (yet). DH had the same but a bit more tired last few days appetite started going and had a productive cough. However last 6 hours he has gone down hill fast, his oxygen levels have dropped to about 91-92 percent. Has a high fever (38.4-38.8) and sleeping and doesn't want to even listen to anything. He did have a mild case of bacterial pneumonia nearly a year ago and after a trip to a and e and some antibiotics he picked up quickly.

So on one hand I don't want to burden any services but also bit sure at what point I should consider reaching out to 111. What have your experiences been should he wait it out and I keep an eye on things to see if gets worse or should I call sooner or await the test results? Thanks. (Should add he is BAME and maybe doesn't look after himself too well health wise, is obese but nothing diagnosed officially)

So im not 100 percent sure it's covid or not until those test results come in. But he's gone downhill fast

Not an expert, I'd call 111 and let them help make the decision.

gluteustothemaximus · 27/12/2020 19:31

I'd be reaching out now to 111 and saying everything you've said here.

Star8181 · 27/12/2020 19:31

Hi @MsMeNz, how worrying for you. I really think with oxygen levels of 91/92 you need to seek medical advice. Call 111 and see what they say. Hope he picks up soon.

RickiTarr · 27/12/2020 19:34

Get a professional opinion on those numbers at least. They will probably want to see him with those blood sats. I hope he recovers quickly.

TheoriginalLEM · 27/12/2020 19:34

His oxygen levels are dangerously low, he needs to go to hospital dont leave it. Im sorry to worry you but thats very low. Anything lower than 94% is medically significant

UncomfortableSilence · 27/12/2020 19:34

His SATs are low I would call now.

Bagelsandbrie · 27/12/2020 19:35

Call 111 and ask for advice. He may need additional oxygen if his temperature is high and his sats at hovering at 91ish.

HairyFloppins · 27/12/2020 19:37

Call 111 they will more than likely get him an ambulance. He sounds almost exactly the same as my DH who was admitted last week. His oxygen was 87. Temp was 40.7! He had a few days on fluids and oxygen. Also antibiotics and steroids. Wishing him well OP.

MsMeNz · 27/12/2020 19:39

Thank you everyone I will do x ugh I hate it when you don't know what to do for the best. Esp as he was up and walking earlier in the day! X

Ring 111 but expect an ambulance.

Purplewithred · 27/12/2020 19:41

PS - what's his pulse?

OverTheRainbow88 · 27/12/2020 19:45

I would seek professional medical advice with those oxygen readings, in the meantime I would open a window near him to get the fresh air flowing

GeorgeTheFirst · 27/12/2020 19:46

Sats at 91 or 92 you should call now

MrsNWT · 27/12/2020 19:49

Definitely call 111, although I'm sure you have them on the line already. Thinking of you

Feministicon · 27/12/2020 20:33

Hope he’s ok.

Lottie2017 · 27/12/2020 21:04

Call 111- a family member did this and a paramedic was sent round to check his vitals. It was reassuring to have some medical intervention.

MsMeNz · 29/12/2020 22:27

Just thought I'd update. It wasn't covid but a bacterial pneumonia. So steroids/inhalior, antibiotics and pain relief. After a trip to the hospital bat 111 advise he is now recovering slowly at home. Thank you for all your support x
