Vaccination list priority?

So I've been looking at the list of who will be vaccinated first but wondered if anyone has any insight on the 'high risk under 65's' and 'medium risk under 65's' and what falls into those categories.

My DP was diagnosed with kidney cancer in August and had his kidney removed, appointment/scan in March to assess whether the cancer has been contained. He's 55, so is he classed as high risk or medium.

I'm nearly 52 and have asthma which is well controlled, am I classed as medium risk or does my age put me further down?

Just wondered if anyone has any insight.

Where’s the list from? It completely misses cev from the list. If you search gov vaccine priority it links to the full document with details on what conditions are in various groups although it’s not exhaustive.

That's the old list

'High risk' adults means CEV (have shielding letter) and they are now category 4 (together with those aged 70-74)

The longer list of clinically vulnerable (age 16-64) are category

I'll see if I can find a current list of those who qualify (I've seen various versions)

I don't know where your list is from, it didn't tally with what I expected so I looked up the official government list
I imagine that puts your DH in group 4 and you in group 6?

CountessFrog · 27/12/2020 16:39

I’d say he’d be high risk, and FWIW I think it’s dreadful that he isn’t higher up the list. Why we are vaccinating 90 year olds above your husband is just inexplicable to me.

This priority list is as follows:

residents in a care home for older adults and their carers
all those 80 years of age and over and frontline health and social care workers
all those 75 years of age and over
all those 70 years of age and over and clinically extremely vulnerable individuals[footnote 1]
all those 65 years of age and over
all individuals aged 16 years to 64 years with underlying health conditions which put them at higher risk of serious disease and mortality
all those 60 years of age and over
all those 55 years of age and over
all those 50 years of age and over

This is the gov list.

Sorry, useless at links.

Did he receive shielding letters? I’d be very surprised if he wasn’t group 4.

FourTeaFallOut · 27/12/2020 16:46

Controlled asthma doesn't have a bearing on vulnerability, so you will be vaccinated under group 9 - so long as you are otherwise healthy.

My list is from ages ago and screenshot from a Science magazine I googled.

Should have thought to go to the gov site first I suppose. No he was never told to shield as it was thought the cancer hadn't spread atthat point. He's fit and well and was back at work 3 weeks later.

I'm part of the Novavax trial so I may have had a vaccine.

There were people added to the list who became unwell mid shielding. Hopefully though it will nice and quick, as someone cev is tough waiting with patience so I do understand. Come on Oxford!
