Can we share some positive news of people having the vaccine?

I had mine about 10 days ago. NHS worker with health issues. Most of my team have had it.

raviolidreaming · 24/12/2020 09:52

teenagetantrums · 24/12/2020 09:52

I had my first dose last weekend..care home worker..they fitting us all in around the over 80s...using vacince that had been defrosted when people don't turn up.

Not sure where those extra emojis came from BlushGrin

Had mine on the 15th- Community Nursing- The local Trust opened places to employees of CQC registrered Nursing and Care providers. They have three centres - one for NHS, one for Care staff other (homecarers etc|) and one over 80 and mobile. Five minute slots from 8-8 Mon to Friday and 8-4 weekends. No slots now free for the first two groups until late January.

All very easy and no pain - just make sure you complete paperworks and be careful in discussing allergies. Any suggestion that you might have one-will exclude you. So obvs don't go if you have a tested allergy but don't mention casually that you once went red after a dodgy prawn on holiday

My 94 year old Nana had hers last weekend at a drive through surgery in her local leisure centre.

DigitalGhost · 24/12/2020 10:03

My Mum had it last week she's 56 and works for the NHS.
(West Yorks)

Fancymarmite · 24/12/2020 10:59

I had it this week. I work frontline in a Birmingham hospital and had it there. Slightly sore arm but no other side effects.

storminasnowglobe · 26/12/2020 22:27

I work in NHS and had a last minute call up to have the vaccine on Christmas Eve - I think they had a few left over doses from no-shows and the fact that there are actually 6 doses in each vial rather than 5. Best Christmas present ever! I feel absolutely elated and so, so grateful to have had it. My 96 yr old granny also had her first dose earlier in the week. No side effects for either of us other than slightly sore arm for 24-36 hrs.

rockinaftermidnite · 26/12/2020 22:45

I don't think I can have it. I have an anaphylactic allergy.Sad

Norugratsatall · 26/12/2020 22:57

My BIL has had his first dose. He's NHS.

radness75 · 26/12/2020 23:02

Retiremental · 26/12/2020 23:02

Primary care HCP and had a last minute call on Christmas eve. Arm was s bit achy until today but otherwise no side effects.

Megan2018 · 26/12/2020 23:07

My Grandmother (nearly 94) has had her first dose. She said it was fine. She’s not in any sort of care home though, she went to a clinic for it.

MrsBeltane · 26/12/2020 23:17

I've had the 1st dose. I'm employed by the NHS and have been working in one of the mass vaccination centres.

GruffyLove · 26/12/2020 23:21

My grandparents in their 80s both had it and both fine they live together independently no carers. My grandfather still drives!

Itawapuddytat · 26/12/2020 23:47

DH and I (both NHS staff, Scotland) got the first dose last week.

Fruitbatdancer · 26/12/2020 23:59

My grandma just had first dose on 23rd, almost didn’t have it, she was OUTRAgED I tell you outraged that she was called to a town about 25 mins away for it, she considered it a personal slight that the local doctors had refused to vaccinate her and were making her travel all that way to see doctors and nurses she didn’t know 😬😬🤣🤣 literally spent hours convincing her it wasn’t personal, it’s where they have the -70 degree fridge, she was convinced Joan (local busy body 3 doors down) was going to local docs. Erm no. Jesus. Gotta love old people!
But so happy she’s had it, they told her that actually it’s shown to be about 70% effective after 1 dose only so that’s good news too!

Unsure33 · 27/12/2020 00:04

Not me . But I know 4 people who have . 3 elderly . One nhs worker

CrackersDontMatter · 27/12/2020 00:13

My Nan has had the first dose and I'll be getting mine this week. I work in a care home.

PuzzledObserver · 27/12/2020 08:56

I know 5 people in their 80’s and 90’s who have had it - drive-through at a local golf club (Midlands). My mum (South Wales) is over 80 and hasn’t heard anything yet.

DH (care home worker) goes to the local hospital hub for his on Tuesday, but no word of them actually coming in to do the residents when he was at work on Thursday.

8thplace · 27/12/2020 17:17

Frontline NHS HCP - West Wales . I had 1st vac on 16th Dec.

rookiemere · 27/12/2020 18:08

@Fruitbatdancer I love your outraged granny story , she sounds like a real character - glad she got her first vaccine injection.
