Dd vomiting

Dd hasn't been anywhere for 9 days except for walks with me and hasn't seen anyone but is. She was at school 9 days ago and her dads then came here where we've been keeping to ourselves so that my mum can join us for Christmas (she's in our bubble but school is rife so we've avoided social contact to try and keep Christmas safe).
Tonight she has been vomiting her guts up for the past hour and I've got the fear. I know vomiting isn't an official symptom but in other countries it seems it is recognised as a symptom in dc. I'm clinically extremely vulnerable and DM is in her 80s so vulnerable me. She's not eaten anything different to anyone else. No fever, no cough, no loss or change to taste or smell. Just the puking.

Hmm. That’s strange. You can somewhat discount a stomach bug if you genuinely have had no other social contact.

Have you been to any shops? Any parks? Or literally just walks? Are these walks in busy areas? Outdoor transmission is fairly rare but not impossible if it’s fairly crowded or a place lots of people visit.

Is your daughter anxious about anything? I used to throw up when anxious as a kid. I was so sick the night before my exams on a few occasions!

It could be COVID. My OH developed symptoms 8 days after I tested positive. Could be worth a test given your position. I fully support people testing whenever they are concerned!

I nanny for a family who all had it. Parents were typical symptoms but the little one presented with vomiting instead. I'm very sorry but as it's rife in school it seems likely to be Covid.

DecemberStar · 23/12/2020 23:10

Unlikely to be Covid as she's nearly out of the 10 day incubation period. Unless you or DH had it asymptomatically and have passed it to her.

Hope she's alright and you work out what it is - possibly something she's eaten?

Of course it could still be covid! This is how children present, and only 90% show without 10 days. The remaining 10% take 14 days. It was only shortened to 10 days for compliance.

Get her tested? Even a lateral flow one

Ultimatecougar · 23/12/2020 23:16

Hmm. My 11 yr old son was isolating after a child at school tested positive.
8 days in he was tired, off his food and had stomach ache and diarrhea. He didn't have any of the symptoms you need to get a test, but had been nowhere at all for 8 days. I'm now wondering if that was Covid and I'm incubating it.

JellyBabiesSaveLives · 23/12/2020 23:17

Well there’s a reason why it’s a 10 day isolation - because you can still get covid at 10 days after contact. My daughter’s main symptom was vomiting. Get her tested!

If she’s eaten the same food as everyone else and only been out for walks - where has she picked up a stomach bug?

JellyBabiesSaveLives · 23/12/2020 23:19

Oh. You can get a test without having the three main symptoms.

Gandalf456 · 23/12/2020 23:22

Call 119 for advice.

Another thing it could be is a food allergy/intolerance. My ds can't eat Southern fried chicken because of this

foreverandalways · 23/12/2020 23:29

Myself and husband tested positive 3 weeks ago...completely different symptoms to one another....I had sickness and constant nausea for a few weeks with it...had a phone consultation with my gp...prescribed cyclazine....worked wonders...bless her..best have a test to all stay safe

FestiveFannyGallops · 23/12/2020 23:30

She feels fine now after getting rid of everything in her stomach. She took her medication with food snd it's supposed to be on an empty stomach and can cause vomiting so I'm wondering if it's that although it never has before. The walks, all two of them, were out in the woods near no one except some chickens and sheep, and a pretty unpopulated walk to my mums to drop something off and dd didn't go inside the house.

Well my ds had this a couple of days ago & turned out to be appendicitis so keep a close eye.

DecemberStar · 23/12/2020 23:42

It wasn't simply changed to 10 days to increase compliance, but in the basis that very few incubate linger than this. I can picture the graph, thought it was less than 10% but maybe not.

I said unlikely, not impossible.
