Shielding how do you know?

DP starts chemo tomorrow and we go into tier 4 on Boxing Day. I am confused as to whether he should be shielded or not (I know it sounds stupid but I am at the limits of what I can take right now and couldn't find my way out of a cardboard box at the moment so please be kind)

I'm a 'shielder'. I get a letter when I need to shield or things change. People can be added to the list by their doctor, so I would imagine that as his circumstances are changing since the list was originally drawn up, he'll be added to the list. I would definitely raise it with his consultant / Dr / whoever he sees tomorrow though to make 100% sure he if he needs to shield and of he does that he gets added to the list.

Hi I'm sorry that your DP has to start chemo tomorrow, my little sister is currently on active chemo and we live in a tier 4 area. We're waiting for her consultant to confirm if we need to shield as she a child, but on the email we received it says about adults to shield until 18th January. Could also confirm tomorrow what they advise? I've attached what the gov website says

The way to think about chemo is that it kills all the cancer cells but it also kills all the good cells too.

I've been shielding since March (just had the all clear following stem cell transplant). After each chemo - usually around day 4 or 5 - my neutrophils would be zero so would be ultra vulnerable.
