Hello can anyone give me any information on whether it be possible to get the coronavirus vaccine done privately and how much it would cost and how you go about it

Not in the UK no.

MoirasRoses · 23/12/2020 16:25

No chance at the mo. We’ve got to prioritise the vulnerable, not those able to simply pay for it!

Littlefluffyclouds13 · 23/12/2020 16:27

I'm presuming you're not elderly and/or vulnerable?
Shame on you, were you honestly prepared to jump the queue because you thought money would allow it?

Mindymomo · 23/12/2020 16:46

Not wanting to queue jump, but I would quite happily pay towards the cost of my whole family when they are eligible to have it.

Ummm excuse me judgemental much???? It's not for me it's for my mum and my father in law one who has a knackered heart and the other who as emphysema, both mid 60s

My husband and I are both nhs workers, one front line on covid wards. Forgive me for giving a shit and it wasn't about jumping the queue it was to see if there was a separate private way of doing it that doesn't affect the normal way

Merry fucking Christmas to you

Ignore the judgemental shits on here!

I get it you're worried. Have you and DH had yours yet? Hopefully your mum and father in law won't have to wait too long.

Mousehole10 · 23/12/2020 19:44

Sorry no it’s not available privately. The vaccine stocks are limited at the moment so it wouldn’t be fair to offer it privately so less at risk people get it ahead of the most vulnerable. Even your parents with those conditions aren’t as at risk as the over 80s currently getting it so they would be skipping the queue if they were to get it now. Hopefully it won’t be too long for them though, once the Oxford vaccine is approved it will be rolled out a lot faster.

No, it's not even been mentioned yet, we re just getting tested once a week.

To be clear I don't think my parents/in laws are more special than anyone else just enquiring if it was a thing that's all

Thank you for the kind responses xxxx

OP - I feel the same and would walk on water, travel the country, and pay what I have in order to get a vaccine to protect my shielded family.

So I’m watching in the hope of an answer....

Iremembertheelderlykoreanlady · 23/12/2020 20:36

It's not possible at the moment.

I would happily remortgage my house if it means me and my family could get it though

Motorina · 23/12/2020 20:38

No, it's only available through the NHS rollout, on the basis of priority. Rationally I entirely get why and support this. Emotionally, I would pay whatever it took to get those I love to the front of the queue.

I'm sure it will become available privately, but think it highly unlikely it will happen before both NHS workers and your vulnerable parents receive it anyway.

Mumof3andlovingit · 23/12/2020 20:38

Hoping it will become an option soon once we have a few more vaccines like the Oxford one.

LemonTT · 23/12/2020 21:01

Didn’t Rupert Murdoch have to get an NHS one? I think his age counted more than his wealth.

Urm, isn't this how private healthcare works?!
