I think this new variant of the virus infects children more as its been allowed to mutate due to school being open

Just my theory

I read on Reuters this new variant affects children more than the first one

I think this can only be because its been allowed to mutate between children in schools due to the poor safety precautions

I know viruses mutate but there must be a reason its been allowed to mutate

Totally agree hospital admissions and death rates. Always have said that.

Currently there isn't any way to calculate cases that works well. Since we keep changing the rules around testing. That is a mess. Which is what I am also saying.

The experts aren't even sure if the new mutation is 70% or double or whatever more transmitable yet. Like I said I think part of the up tick is extra testing on top. Some people may find that actually more reassuring than the doom of zombie apocalypse announcement.

Think that is a reasonable opinion. Not sure of your narrative in all this. Do you just object to people having thoughts or open debate?

@HistoryKitty

No one knows for sure what caused the mutation to spread exactly yet, but its a fair hypothesis that the conditions in schools had an impact. I guess we'll know soon enough. In any case, whatever the outcome, would it not be sensible to bring our schools policy in line with other countries and introduce mask wearing from age 6 regardless, in order to at least try and avoid having to undertake more stringent measures or risk nastier mutations occurring in future?
That is true I think masks in all secondaries apart from exceptions for some sen kids of course.

Getting the little darlings to keep masks on in some schools is probably a different discussion mind.

Not sure if 6 up is the right age to start. Personally I would make it 10. That is just going from my own experience. Primary is easier to bubble in classes of 30 extra. So less transmission chances in general anyway.

Teachers should definitely always be allowed to wear masks or / and visors. Kids are definitely used to seeing masks now so not a descent argument on that any more.
