Are there any police cordens on roads going in/out London?

Just that really. I have a legitimate reason to go, but wondered if I'm likely to be stopped and asked?

They are not stopping people. I have driven to London to collect my sister and bring her back to my house. No problems.

Topseyt · 22/12/2020 14:37

In most border areas I rather doubt that they will be doing anything like roadblocks.

The police simply don't have the resources and there are so many exemptions that it would be hard to enforce anything anyway.

@TammyHullfigure if only 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 Keep the Tier 4 mutants away from The rest of us.

Tyranttoddler · 22/12/2020 14:45

Tier 4 mutants!

Lurkingforawhile · 22/12/2020 14:46

I'm looking forward particularly to the roadblocks on the M4 Xmas Confused

PingPongBat · 22/12/2020 14:56

There are messages on the overhead gantry displays along the M1, about which Tier you are driving through, but no signs of increased police presence - just the usual traffic officers

Haffiana · 22/12/2020 14:57

Met Police won't do cordons. Smaller provincial forces with nothing better to do might.

TeenageMutantNinjaCovid · 22/12/2020 14:59

There was a sign in Leeds today- think it said Leeds and Manchester police

If you have come from tier 4 please isolate for 10 days

dingit · 22/12/2020 15:01

Lots of tier 4 stay at home signs m25 today. Busy as usual Grin

BigWoollyJumpers · 22/12/2020 15:03

We're in Tier 4 Surrey bordering on Tier 2 Waverley and Hampshire. Been out and about and up and down the A3, no police to be seen. So many country lanes round here, it would be impossible to police. We have been click and collecting which is allowed.

DillonPanthersTexas · 22/12/2020 15:04

Police no.

But the military have shut the M25 and all major motorways into London, apache helicopters are patrolling the skies and there is a shoot on sight policy for all deployed soldiers.

My neighbour got shot for attempting to buy some mince pies.

I'm slightly worried that in the current febrile climate someone might take you seriously.

What a twattish comment.

Milomonster · 22/12/2020 15:19

Nope. Travelled out for legitimate reasons on the A40 -M40 on Sunday. Saw one police van.

Thewiseoneincognito · 22/12/2020 15:26

@Luckyrabbitfoot oh hun 💋

Fizbosshoes · 22/12/2020 15:26

Considering the police service has been cut to the bone and even burglary and serious crime doesnt always get a police presence, I'd be highly surprised if there were anywhere near enough police to monitor and check this kind of thing
despite a lot of MN seemingly wanting, or expecting riot police to check peoples shopping baskets for "non essentials" and enforce how many people "Betty and George over the road" can have at their Christmas dinner table.

Elouera · 22/12/2020 15:26

Thanks for the replies. Yes, I'm well aware of how many roads are in/out London, and didnt expect complete cordens, just whether police had been stopping people. During the initial lockdown, some local areas were stopping everyone.

I waiting a call back to see if my medication can be delivered where I am, so I wont need to go at all.

I think we will all be in tier 4 soon tbh so probably doesn't make that much difference.

Nobody mention the marauding zombies or our escape routes really will be blocked off

Did you think that was all witty and biting, with the emoji and ironic use of hun?
It wasn’t. Cringe.

littlejalapeno · 22/12/2020 16:41

My inner cynic says the “stay home” policy between London and Dover has absolutely nothing to do with the stacking operations on the closed m20, vast amounts of lorries on the m25 and needing a clear route to keep all the lorries moving up the country... no nothing whatsoever to do with any of that, definitely the extra spready Covid they knew about in September...

In other words if you have a legitimate reason and are sure you won’t be infecting anyone just try to hold your nerve between the freighters and bmw drivers

rollinggreenhills · 23/12/2020 10:52
Hmm

News just in: For all you dimwits out there who didn't realise, London is quite big and has lots of roads.
