Nc for this!

We had a message from nursery saying someone who was in contact with the children for less than 5 minutes has tested positive for covid. The message just says they were visiting and the whole visit was less than 5 mins. There was no physical contact but there could have been close contact.

Nursery called public health who said all of the children needed to isolate for 10 days.

They then spoke to someone different at public health who said the children didnt need to isolate because the contact wasn't face to face for 15 minutes.

Nursery are being cautious and have closed nursery and told everyone to isolate. This obviously has a big impact on the one day we allowed to see family at Christmas!

I thought that if someone tested positive, track and trace would contact nursery/school/friends etc and tell them they need to isolate. Nursery hasn't been contacted by track and trace.

Nursery have given us very little information and dont seem to know anything about what children specifically had the contact or what the contact was. I dont even know if it was an adult or child but ive been assuming adult.

My gut says unless track and trace contact nursery then my child doesnt need to isolate. But what if the person who tested positive didnt tell track and trace about the visit to nursery?

Im so confused, I want to do the right thing but it doesn't sound like to me that we need to isolate. And i obviously dont want to put family at risk.

Your child needs too isolate as you have been told that they have to by the nursery.

Track and trace expect childcare providers to inform contacts in those environments themselves as it often isn't practical for test and trace to do so (as it can be several hundred families that need to be contacted in some cases).

You won’t be contacted by track and trace. It’s up to the education provider to inform you to isolate.
They have done this so you follow what the nursery says.
