Feeling scared , have asthma, late 40s , chest feels rubbish , got steroids already . I think I'm expecting the worst . Don't know how I'm going to cope the next few days, think all my family have it too.
DH cough , DC cough though one seems ok . My cough is right down in my chest .
Day 4 today ..am so worried about what could be coming . At the moment I can still do a few things like make food , that's got to be good right ?

Sorry to read this op Thanks
If it makes you feel better try to remember that asthma sufferers don't seem to be fairing any worse than anyone else compared to what they thought originally (unless you have v severe asthma I think).

Hope you manage to get some sleep tonight.

SlothWithACloth · 21/12/2020 00:06

I don’t know if it helped but we followed lots of advice given by drs and others on various YouTube videos. This included -
Lots of hot drinks of vitamin c, ginger and honey
High dose of vitamin d
Breathing exercises
Sleeping on stomach
We also bought an oximeter from amazon and checked our levels daily.
Try not to worry. Most people are fine with it, even those with asthma.

Thanks for replying, I know I'm not alone in my worries ..will try and sleep. Had bad flare ups last year but not considered brittle like some people I know. How long did it take you all to feel better @SlothWithACloth ?were your whole family down with it ?

Does anyone know if there's a thread for positives ? Can't find one !

I read recently that the reason asthma sufferers have been taken off the CV list is they do better with covid than others.

They don't know if it's to do with the ACE receptors of asthmatics or the longer term low dose inhaled steroids.

Don't let your asthma worry you. Do you have an oxometer? You can keep a track of your blood oxygen and get help early if it starts to drop.

Wishing you all the best.

@girlofthenorth yes. I had fairly mildly though the tiredness seems to be ever present. Dh was quite ill but thankfully didn’t need hospital treatment. He did need antibiotics though. Dc had v mild symptoms - a headache and a sore throat for a day.

SOmuchsparkle · 21/12/2020 07:22

Good luck @girlofthenorth
The likelihood is that this will pass & you will be fine!
You are young - relatively speaking.
Please don't read scaremongering stuff on here.
Get some good books to read, binge watch some telly & take your vitamins.
Get DH to cook!
Take care of yourself ThanksBrew

OP, don't know if this helps at all but DH has asthma and he still had a very mild strain with no additional issues re: breathing. It doesn't necessarily follow that because you have asthma you will be seriously ill. I know it's scary but try not to panic. 🤞

girlofthenorth · 21/12/2020 15:02

Thank you for your replies I'll try and chill. @planningaheadtoday that's very interesting re ACE receptors and reassuring thank you .
