We have very unexpectedly lost our second parent at a young age. Myself and sibling have young families but had planned to spend day together. Funeral this week, we cannot have a wake.

Youngest finding very, very hard and needs more than her DH and DC. Would you meet in tier 4? The hospital allowed us all together everyday for the past few weeks to support each other...

Sorry to hear about your parent passing Sad personally I would meet up, assuming you're all generally being careful.

DuzzyFuck · 20/12/2020 11:18

I'm sorry for your loss OP. In your shoes I would do it x

Wwydcovidchristmas · 20/12/2020 11:18

As in meet up on Christmas Day? Sorry I hadn’t made clear. Is so hard. We have been good up until late few weeks in hospital but on the other hand we have spent last few weeks together anyway...

I am so sorry for your loss but you weren't in tier 4 then. I think you should comply with the rules and not meet up.

Totallydefeated · 20/12/2020 11:21

I’m so sorry OP Flowers

I think in your circumstances I would do it, discreetly, and sensibly, yes. I think this is one of those very few exceptions where there’s a bigger need.

balloonsintrees · 20/12/2020 11:22

There is provision in the guidance to be able to provide care for a vulnerable person, I would very much say that your sister is in light of the situation.
I know I am classed as vulnerable due to severe mental health issues and am able to meet my sponsor if I need to.
When reading through the the rules, there is a thread of compassion that runs within them - I would say meet up and just be together.

Calmandmeasured1 · 20/12/2020 11:22

Don't ask the question if you only want others to agree with what you want to do.

Wwydcovidchristmas · 20/12/2020 11:23

Tier three did not allow either as 4 families were meeting together... I’m not looking for a rule bend as clearly not allowed just. WWYD...

I’d meet her. The pandemic will pass, relationships may not recover.

Wwydcovidchristmas · 20/12/2020 11:24

And asking to get all answers not just one I want to hear so thank you

Lemonpiano · 20/12/2020 11:25

I too would consider it to be caring for a vulnerable person.

Pbbananabagel · 20/12/2020 11:28

Same experience last year and honestly I would have just done it and not given a damn because the only thing that made it manageable was being close to my sister.

Yes. I lost my father very suddenly just before the November lockdown and my two siblings and I met up then, we needed to sort physical stuff out and comfort each other Thanks I would hope this would be understood.

LadyLazaruss · 20/12/2020 11:32

Absolutely see her

Hmm
M0rT · 20/12/2020 11:38

I am so sorry for your loss.
If it would help you I think you should still be with your sister at Christmas.
As you say you have been together for weeks in the hospital and will have the funeral so Christmas is not a massive increase in Covid risk and will probably make a big difference emotionally for you all.
Take care Flowers

Coffeeandcocopops · 20/12/2020 11:40

Yes I would. Discreetly.

albicocca · 20/12/2020 11:42

Absolutely yes I would meet up in the circumstance. Sending love.

Wwydcovidchristmas · 20/12/2020 11:50

Thank you all for being kind Flowers

DuckbilledSplatterPuff · 20/12/2020 11:57

Technically? I’m not even sure anymore, but as you’ve been together all these weeks, i imagine it can’t increase the COVID risk and your sister sounds vulnerable. Flowers

Ilovepancakes6 · 20/12/2020 12:15

I'm really sorry for your loss OP, yes I would 100% see my family in this situation. Look after each other Flowers

LIZS · 20/12/2020 12:26

You are still allowed to meet one to one outdoors. Could you go walking together?
