Apologies if there has already been a thread on this topic but I couldn’t find one.

It’s been an absolutely awful year, and tonight’s announcement has just made it worse. Personally I’ve been struggling to sleep with stress, and my usual coping mechanisms haven’t worked.

My boss (an amazingly supportive lady) has discussed mindfulness with me and showed me mindfulness jars which her children have been making at school with water and glitter. Amazingly, they help! I’m trying to use it between meetings at work. My jar has purple glitter in it. 😁

I’ve also discovered ASMR which I watch on YouTube to help me sleep. It’s been a god send. It helps me detach from everything whirling in my brain.

What are you doing that’s helping you cope? Yoga, walking, baking? Share your strategy with me please!

Walks, craft, wfh, dh & dc. I have lost a stone and I am quietly delighted about it.

Dog walking.
Not worrying how messy my house is anymore.
Conversely, being able to clean properly, small sections of house.
Occasionally, a revelatory boxed set or streamed theatre (Frankenstein NT)

Nothing else gives me much satisfaction, cooking and gardening seem pointless, although I used to enjoy them before.

Having a "study" to escape to also helps with stress.

Baking (I know it’s a cliche!) it’s been a godsend, I’ve learnt how to make normal bread, brioche, focaccia, cinnamon rolls, pain au raisin, creme patissier and spent weeks perfecting the chocolate chip cookie! I’ve done online buttercream icing classes and have made some really pretty things. Today I made Demerara shortbread, tomorrow I’m making mince pies and gingerbread. On Wednesday I’m making macarons and fudge to drop a parcel off to PIL on their doorstep. In M and S today I decided not buy any biscuits, cakes or sweets, I’ve decided to try and make all holiday treats from scratch. We’re in tier four so it’s not like we can go anywhere 😂😳🤦‍♀️

Watching tons of Christmas movies, puzzles are really helpful for me. Also running my small business keeps me busy.
