Support Bubble?

I have a two year old and a three month old. The two year old is normally at nursery but nursery will be shut 24 Dec - 4 Jan. DM and DB (live together, so one household) were due to come for Xmas and then stay on to help with childcare.

I have PND and spend most days in tears. I am not coping at the best of times. Life feels too much at the moment. DH will be off work when nursery is shut but we barely cope at weekends at the moment. I don't know how we will manage the 11 days without childcare. Couldn't give a monkeys about Christmas, it's the least of my worries at the moment.

They are tier 3, we are about to be tier 4. They are three hours away so can't just pop round. We don't have anyone closer to help. I think we can technically form a support bubble, but is it the wrong thing to do? Would we get in trouble because of the distance and different tiers? There really isn't anyone else we can ask and aside from DC at nursery, both households are isolated with WFH.

Yes, you can still have a childcare bubble across tiers. This is specifically mentioned in the new guidelines.

The risk of PND is exactly why this provision exists. So sorry to hear you're struggling - you won't get in trouble for following the rules. You are in a vulnerable position, and you should absolutely see your parents.

Best of luck to you.

Thank you @ILoveStickers it's not easy at the moment. I've seen there are some other threads which, whilst not identical, are broadly covering similar questions so that helps too.

I’m a “follow the rules” person but you have PND so whatever the rules are you need the support.
Have you seen your GP? Are you getting any treatment? It can get better OP. Good luck.
